If you want it runined, look here.

Destiny, is quite literally power by solar energy. It had been saving its power to power the shields to protect the ship, and it flew through the sun, with the SG version of Bussard collectors. Re powering the ship.

Perhaps I should elaborate...

I think Rush knew there was more to it. When Eli had that Kino around the shuttle, and Rush saw the Destiny for the first time, it is almost like he knew something, the expression on his face, the way he didn't say anything except that he was off to read a book.. Its like some solar pannels were visible or something?

Sure he may not have known whether they would be working or not, but there is no doubt that he kept some information from the rest of the group; and if he didn't know anything, what was the scene with the Colonel all about at the end?

Rush is strange. I foresee the colonel beating his ass at some point in a future episode.

I watched all the episodes so far the other day, have to say it's a pretty good series so far. I like it. Rush is kinda weird, but if you think about it he is really the only one who knows what he's doing. Only a handful of people know the Ancient language and he's knows the most out of them all.

Granted, from the crew on the Destiny, he is the one who knows most of the Ancient language, but at the same time, he doesn't need to keep secrets from others, when it regards their life and death.

What they should have done, is got them stones, and got Daniel on the scene. He'd have had it sorted out quite quick I'd imagine. ;)

Daniel is one (if not the best) at reading Ancient but the technical side of everything would be over his head. Mckay would be better but the technology on the Destiny is different from that on Atlantis.

Thought getting Mckay/Daniel/Carter would just ruin the storyline as in SG-1/SGA they were able to understand and fix everything to the extent where it just got to silly and not realistic at all.

Re: Stargate Universe

The newer Ancient Tech was alot more user friend though, it was thought controlled and what not.

Re: Stargate Universe

Just thinking of The Ancients in general.

In SG-1: They were the most powerful race to ever inhabit the stars and all of there knowledge was to much for a human brain to handle.

In Atlantis: They were a bunch of twats who lost a war and Mckay is able to understand most of there technology and theories. The episode where some Ancients take over Atlantis again and then get wiped out by the Replicators proves this point. And the fact that normal humans wiped out the Replicators and have almost beaten the Wraith.

SGU: The Ancients are seen more in the light that they were in SG-1 again. The Destiny is powerful & intelligent, Rush is barley able to understand how it functions.

I personally believe thats more the Tau'ri fulfilling their destiny to become the 5th great race.

And.. You know for some reason, i can see Greer and Rush getting along in the near future.

Hmm.. I'm not so sure to be honest. Greer doesn't mind mingling, Rush seems to want to be by himself all the time. I can't see these two connecting.

Re: Stargate Universe

'Earth' has been the best episode of SGU thus far in my opinion, was a little faster paced and had more of a Stargate feel than the episodes previous.

But there is a growing negativity towards SGU online of people who just don't like the show for what ever reason. The advice to those people is to give it 3 more episodes.

This is taken from Joe Mallozzi's blog:

"The next three episodes that take us to that break are, in my humble opinion, the best of the first ten."

"If the next three episodes up to the hiatus don’t do it for you, I’ll be surprised – and sad you won’t be watching any longer. Especially since the first episode back after the break is mine: 'Space', and it’s filled with all sorts of action and aliens and ship to ship battles."

Yup, and I will. They need to pick up the pace a little. We get the ship is old, move on with the story...

Re: Stargate Universe

Well, I think the latest episode 'Time' has to be the best one yet. It was obvious at one point that the story we were watching wasn't the typical one, although I thought the episode was done quite well. What did everyone else think?

Tanith November 16th, 2009 07:24 AM

Re: Stargate Universe

I already typed out what I thought on Gateworld but might aswell copy and paste it here:

Spoiler:
I enjoyed this episode, like others have said it did have a more “Stargate” feel to it than the episodes previously. This one had: sci-fi elements, action & hostile aliens which is what some people have been saying the previous episodes lacked.

Some people picked up on the end being a cliffhanger: What more do we need to know?

Its easy to create your own explanation and assume that LT Scott’s plan worked: He sends the Kino through the Stargate to the past with the new info, The Destiny arrives at the planet and the team find the Kino, They watch the footage and follow the clear instructions Scott left on how to cure the virus and since they know what to do and have time to be able to do it nobody dies. Do we really need another episode to see that?

David Blue’s acting portraying Eli was just amazing in this episode. The scene right before when Chloe died reminded me of the emotion you used to feel between O’Neill & Carter, it could bring a tear to your eye lol.

Kinda agree on the Kino cam though, it was used a little to much in this episode and did get annoying at times. I personally would have preferred if it was first established that it was Kino footage but then see it normally and not always from the Kino’s perspective.

To be honest when I first watched it, I sort of forgot that those things have that cam effect.
Spoiler:

Was thinking the whole time before they flipped over to the Destiny, that it was an nice little alien bug watching them, as they did in a couple of episodes for the other SG's.

I really liked the episode. Mainly because of the end though. It's so nicely muddled and we don't know which crew is real, which we've been following, or which one died. Sort of reminds me of the episodes in voyager where they found out they were just copies.

As to Earth
Spoiler:

I was actually pretty bored by the episode. Have them finally loose normal contact with Earth. Have them be really really lost for a while instead of this annoying flitting back anf forth. i don't know, it was just boring. The end of it didn't help. Knowing he did it, but didn't have proof, might have been better.

Though considering that we're soon coming to mid-seasonm, we'll soon
Code:

have a an explanation for that leaving dropship in one of the first episodes
Code:

Not to mention that the last three episodes are called
Time-Life-Justice. Seems a pretty strong indication.

Actually looking for a version of a pic of the Desting from its fore view at the beginning of 'Time' or any episode where the Destiny appears in the 'previously on' segment of episodes so that it doesn't have the credits in the picture aswell.

Would be preferable in 720p or 1080p.

I appreciate you helping, but those images are still too small. They would get horribly stretched and pixelated when setting them as a background. If anyone has pictures like the ones Tanith posted in 1080p, could they please upload them?

That, I think, has been the best episode yet. Whilst other episodes have touched on a fair bit of stuff, 'Time' was the sci-fi that we've lacked in Universe I think.

Bloody great show. I haven't really seen any of the other Star Gate series (except the 1994 movie which I can barely remember and a couple of episodes of SG-1 years ago) but this show is really good. Except I agree with what Warborg said about the last episode, it was fairly soapy. Besides that, really entertaining show. Also, Chloe is hawt.

Re: Stargate Universe

Next episode doesn't air until April :(

Just out of curiosity what is everyone's opinion of SGU now that 10 episodes have aired?

There has been constant arguments on various Stargate afflicted sites between those who like SGU and those who think it sucks and killed the franchise. There is even a site dedicated to the cancellation of SGU with some of the most immature types of people you tend to see online.

In my opinion I can see it getting really good now, the latest episode 'Justice' was fab and the next episode looks to be even better.

Flash525 January 14th, 2010 11:34 AM

Re: Stargate Universe

SGU is a complicated one. It is sci-fi, but with that dark twist. I think, for the most part, the people who join these cancellation sites are the hardcore fans of SG1 and SGA. Both SG1 and SGA focused on gate travel, and mythology (especially SG1 in that regard). SGU has just been thrown out there, and whilst it involves the odd stargate scene, it isn't really stargate as we've come to know and love.

I'll admit, when I first heard the news, I was bitter. I didn't have time for the show. I felt that SGA had an early cancellation, and was ended prematurely. There was so much left to do with that show, they should have pushed for ten seasons like they did with SG1, and then maybe moved onto SGU. Another thing that separates SGU from the other shows, is the alien aspect. SG1 and SGA introduced aliens (Goa'uld and Wraith) in the first episode, following a nice big storyline about that foe at the end of the season. Other than that sand cloud thing, the only evidence of alien activity we've had is some small scout ship thing departing the Destiny whilst in FTL.

Hardcore fans are probably unhappy with that. For what it is worth, I've gotten into the show, and even whilst I think the communication stones shoud have been left out of SGU, I am going to be following the show through till the rest of the season, at the least.

Omg, april!!!!??!?!?!???!?!?!? I have to wait till april?!?!!??!

Flash525 March 6th, 2010 07:00 AM

Re: Stargate Universe

Yeah, we've got to wait until April. Too many shows have too large a break, especially between seasons. I'm all for having a break between seasons, actors and writers need a little time off, but breaking up an entire season is lame and stupid.

I've lost count the amount of times Heroes and Supernatural took breaks between episodes. Supernatural is currently on a 6-week break until the end of March. Sucks.

Anyway, the second half of SGU looks good, but I do hope they've not just put the best parts of the season in there. :lulz: Whilst I've enjoyed some of the SGU episodes thus far, it hasn't struck me as brilliant. I'm hoping the second half of the season, and season two (if we get it) will pick up the pace a bit more, else I truly think the franchise will loose some fans.

Thats the problem with teasers and trailers for anything these days. They always show the best parts. Then when it comes to the actual main feature/programme, you realise that it is just so many minutes of crap surronding the 2-4 minutes of awesome.

Don't get me wrong. I love all things stargate, but admittedly, SGU has been kinda slow building.

And those aliens definatly weren't blue. Your monitor is either screwed up, or you need to make an apointment for an eye exam.

If anything, those aliens looked similar to the 'Roswell Grays' from 'Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull'.
