Default Thinking about buying IT (The Book)

Cause i loved the movie, and i know that it was loosely based on the book, as in the book IT transforms into tons of different things and isn't just a clown, but i thought i'd like to get it just to see how scary/good it is for myself. Now, i've never been scared from a book and i'm not a heavy reader, but i've always fealt like getting it.

Loved the book, thought the movie was mediocre to ehhh. They left lots of stuff out that was in the book.

There was a movie based on IT? Information Technology? Or did I miss something?

I have it, haven't actually read it yet, so this point is pointless.

It’s a fairly deep book. I enjoyed it immensely. It gets into a lot of metaphysical innuendoes about good and evil, more back story as to how IT came to be and into its equally powerful, benign equal…but I won’t give that away. The book at times gets pretty racy, but works with the story. King really explores racism and bigotry that existed during the 1950’s in New England borrowing a lot on his past experiences and incorporates a lot of his childhood into the story (as you seen in the movie), You really get to feel for these kids and feel for what they are going through…and not just because IT has it out for them. As you get deeper into the story you’ll start to learn why IT resides in Dairy. The movie was well done, but only hints at the entire story.

Spoiler alert…read Dreamcatcher when you are done with this book. IT is tied into the story and the evil in both books are from the same mold. IT is a quasi prequel to Dreamcatcher and characters cross paths in both books…don’t watch Dreamcatcher, it was a horrible movie and Stephen King did not endorse the movie.

Wow, i never would've suspected them to tie in, i thought some of the characters names were a tad familiar, and i thought the movie was rather ok, obviously compared to the book it must've been SHIT, but i thought it was ok. It was... Interesting.. And when you say from the same mold, do you mean it was one of those things? Like, the wormy things? Cause if so, IT was more of a giant spider wasn't it? Erm, or an Alien spider, which could shapeshift.

Yea, i would recommend watching the movie first, as the book is larger then the bible and the movie will give you a good premise of the story, it was kind've like the shining, the movie was great, the book was even greater. But, eh, it all depends on if your a movie kinda guy or a book kinda guy (when choosing which to do first).

The movie (IT) didn't quite get the spider image right...but we are talking late 80's made-for-TV special effects. The (IT) creature are the same ones in dreamcatcher...rather they are the offspring of the original entity (IT). IT...(OH I SO WANT TO GIVE IT AWAY...but I won't. )

Dreamcatcher (the movie) barely had anything in common with the book. More of a hit and miss piece, made into an action flick (which the book is not) to keep the attention of the audience. I hated the movie.

I didn't even know there was a movie made, to be honest. I really enjoyed the book, for some reason I couldn't put it down. It was very well written, both in a literary sense and in a narrative sense.

It is a 'horror' (though I don't know if any book qualifies as a horror, more thriller, really) novel about-

Maybe I shouldn't spoil it.

It's always like that. The worst I've seen it done was in the Bourne Identity, so much of the stuff that fleshed out the novel were entirely missing from the movie, it just felt hollow.
