Re: Doctor Who

Seeing that I'm an American, the season diddn't start till late sempteber. I loved Season 1, and eagerly waited for Season 2 to hit the states. Instead of waiting for the next week to watch the next episode I watched the enitre Season on YouTube.

EDIT: ThreadJack!!

Doctor Who

Is anyone watching this on Sci Fi? I caught the last season and thought it was really good, and decided to continue with the rest, but I'm not as impressed with the season that's on right now. I'm curious as to what other people think.

Season 2 gets better, and has some real good highlights, but I wont spoil it for you!

Being British, I get to see it all first. I'm becoming a massive Doctor Who fan.

I cant wait for the next christmas special. 7pm Christmas day, BBC One.

Second only to Battlestar in my opinion... hehe, I've got the Tardis' materialization and dematerialization sounds for logon/logoff sounds...

Lets try not to spoil the ending for those who havent seen it.

All I will say is that you will never see it coming in a million years.

The only good part of season 2 is episode 2 and the final two parter (bar the last 5 minutes. I refuse to accept that they actually existed).

In season 1, yes. In season 2, it was if Mr. Davis had kept on writing for Casanova.

Season 2 for me was sorely disappointing. My thinking is that Christopher Eccelstone had seen the script after the first episode for some of series 2 and that's why he left. I mean, it was so un-characteristic for the Doc and it just felt all wrong. I'm not saying I've been a life long fan, but I've seen stories from every doctor and David Tennant I rate as being one of the worse. Now whether or not that's him or the scripting, I've yet to be able to clearly make out, but season 2 I personally thought was pants. Eccelstone > Tennant.

Traditionally, christmas specials have been rubbish and always had political messages (like last years...although that one WAS particularly poor), but I'll wait to see this one. I don't think it will be good though.

Just look at my avatar and user title and you can see i'm a big Doctor Who fan!

Season 1 was great, season 2 is good, i think Tennant makes a good Doctor, but i think season 1 was a bit higher quality with better scripting and such.

Warning, reply includes plot spoilers for those who haven't seen the season finale:

Spoiler:
After watching the Catherine Tate show, I really have doubts over how good the season start will be. She's a comedy woman, and while Doctor Who does lean towards that, even sometimes heavily, is this really the sort of thing you'd like to see her in? Not me.

I mean, you were getting over the finale, and then Catherine Tate shows up. I had no idea what the hell was happening, and not even the good one.

Overall I like it and am looking forward to more. Sara Jane is still my favorite companion but I do like Rose. Yes I know.

Gimme the good stories of season 2, please. They numbered I believe 3 and a half. The writing for season 2 was abismal and I do not envy the actors for their role in it. It was cheap entertainment at the expense of the Doctor Who name...they'd have done better putting on Tom Baker's episodes which had less budget than season 2.
