All in all ....I am very pleased with the new BSG and I will watch it just as avidly as I did the old BSG

Hohenzollern, and I say that Barry Van Dyke was Starbuck. I don't remember who played "Boomer"

It is better than Enterprise, however you would be hard pressed to find a TOS/TNG fan who likes Galactica better.

DS9 fans might be a different story...

Monster_user,

Do not put words in my mouth. There was no one in the original cast named van Dyke.

Here is the original cast:

Captain Apollo...........Richard Hatch
Lt. Starbuck.............Dirk Benedict
Commander Adama...........Lorne Greene
Lt. Boomer..........Herb Jefferson Jr.
Athena....................Maren Jensen
Cassiopea...............Laurette Spang
Flight Sgt. Jolly..........Tony Swartz
Boxey....................Noah Hathaway
Col. Tigh.................Terry Carter
Baltar....................John Colicos
Flt. Corp. Rigel............Sarah Rush
Flt. Officer Omega.......David Greenan
Sheba....................Anne Lockhart
Dr. Wilker..............John Dullaghan
Brie..............Janet Louise Johnson
Bojay....................Jack Stauffer
Greenbean................Ed Begley Jr.
Imperious Leader...........Dick Durock
(His Voice).............Patrick Macnee
Lucifer (voice)........Jonathan Harris
Muffit the Daggit.......Evie the Chimp

And like I said ....the character shake up as far a gender is concerned is ok by me. I think it adds a great new twist on an old concept. I love what they are doing to BSG and I want to see more of it.

Sorry, I'm a little under the weather....

However I do remember seeing a bunch of old Galactica 1980 episodes, where a Van Dyke, played a Viper Pilot, I could've sworn it was Starbuck...

Barry Van Dyke... Lieutenant Dillon
^ That is a link. Incase it isn't all that obvious.

I was so sure, that Van Dyke, was Starbuck in Galactica 1980, then again, I don't know who Lt Dillon is, he is a Viper pilot, I know that. I'm sure he was a womanizer, as well, sooo close to the Starbuck character...

I probably read somewhere, that he was the "new" Starbuck type character, for Galactica 1980.

Makes sense. I think by 1980 Dirk Benedict has moved on to other roles. I know he was making the movie The Georgia Peaches in 1980 so perhaps he didn't have the time to comeback and reprise his role as Starbuck.
