Pitch Black or Chronicles Of Riddick?
 

I'm wondering which movie to get on DVD. I have a $25 voucher to use, and each costs about $30. I have only seen Pitch Black, I have yet to see Chronicles Of Riddick. Could any of you provide me with some insight? Which do you think is better in your opinion? Pitch Black, or Chronicles Of Riddick?

Shoot, this is a hard one. I know a lot of people said Chronicles of Riddick was horrible, but personally I loved the movie. It had a cool story line in my opinion. And the acting was decent as well.

Rent it for yourself. It is a good movie though if you are into sci-fi.

I like both, and Riddick was damn cool, but Pitch Black is the better film. Rent Riddick before you buy it, and then make the choice.

It depends on what you like.

Pitch Black = Sci-fi Survival horor
while
Chronicles of Riddick= Sci-fi adventure
IMO I like Pitch Black just a little bit more.
There is always the animated Riddick movie(with Vin Diesel)

As did I, but Riddick's character and mysterious/daunting personality are what make both movies (Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick) so worthwhile. :cool:

Gosh...you people aren't making my decision any easier, hehehe. I think I may buy Pitch Black first. The only real part I can remember is when they are moving through the dessert in the night, and they are all holding glow sticks, so the creeps don't get them. They come upon a sand dune. Riddick peeks over "Looks clear" he says. They move out, and just then, a creature come flying over their heads. The someone says "I thought you said it was clear? How's it look now?" he replies "Looks clear..." :rofl:

Yeah, some people don't like Vin Diesal but I find him to be very funny.

Not seen Riddick myself yet but will soon!...anyhoos..I always rent before I buy, then when I'm ready to buy there's usually been a price drop! (also, ask yourself if they'll bring out an 'enhanced' or extended' or 'extra bloody good' version later on to get more of your money...ye just never know sometimes......)

get Pitch Black, it's a cult classic. don't get Chronicles of Riddick, it's gash. a truly awful movie. terrible, terrible!

I do like the story line. Race of Necromongers set out to destroy all planets. Pretty cool ships and stuff if you ask me.

Same, though I still found Riddick to be enjoyable. And Jack was hot.

Then you've obviously fallen asleep right after the previews.

I liek both. Pitch Black is the better for simple reasons:

1: PB: Riddick is clearly defined as evil and dangerous, where through half the movie, you wonder if Riddick will pick all of them off and then leave.
CoR: Riddick is not defined as evil and comes across as a guy that doesn't play well with others. Dangerous, yes. But in the hero way. Not the serial killer way.

2: PB: The enviroment was a monster covered world where survival means getting to an escape ship or taking a chance that the monsters won't hunt you all down.
CoR: The enviroments are too immense. The film is too grand in scope and that hurts the focus of Riddick.

3: PB: The enemies Riddick is against are the montsers of the planet and the crew he's stranded with. They don't trust him not to kill him and teh monsters see him as lunch.
CoR: The enemy is an empire bent on galactic conquest, with the power to decimate worlds. Riddick is now no longer fighting for survival. He is Rambo In Space.

Both are good movies. Just I believe Pitch Black is a better film.

You may wish to argue which is best out of the two, if you wish :)
