The Gunslinger

i recently got the first book in the dark tower series "The Dark Tower I : The Gunslinger" and if anyone has read it, i wanted to ask if i should just go ahead and read it b/c ive never read any of stephen kings books before. So im basicly asking if ill turn out liking it even more if i read it without reading "The Stand" or any of his recent books. :uhm:

READ THEM READ THEM READ THEM READ THEM!!!!!!!

It's a very different style of King, the books are fantasy rather than horror, but personally I think they're the best books he's ever written. By the way 'The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower' is being released in about a week, i just pre-ordered it from Amazn... me so happy.

In case you were curious, the best books in the series are probably 'The Dark Tower III: The Waste Lands' and 'The Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass'.

Re: The Gunslinger

Ya i heard this is one of King's best work yet and that the last one in the series is coming out. I already started reading it and in only 4 chapters i already got addicted to it. I LOVE rolands character, hes such a badass and will kill anyone who gets in his way :D.

Re: The Gunslinger

I read the third book (i think). It was the one with the guy who does coke. anyways, I thought it was a fantastic book.

Re: The Gunslinger

There's a drug deal in the second book, but none of the main characters do coke (eddie is a heroin addict, and jake's father does coke, but he's a very minor character).... are you sure it was a Dark Tower book? They're better to read in order, anyway, it's one long story.

WARNING
SPOILER!:

Spoiler:
Hey chaka im at the part where so far the guy tries to stab him and he breaks his wrists, then the guy mentions susan. Thats one part i got confused about, who was susan? would i fnd out later on in the story? and also what exactly happend in the bar when the man in black was there. Like, how did that guy die in the first place and how did the man in black bring him back to life?
