Enemy Teritory,

I don't like it, how about you guys ?

It's almost like playing medal of honor :moon:

Activision, what have you done..........

Xkript April 24th, 2003 02:36 PM

i dont think it is too bad, it just needs some tweaking. Like making the m1 shoot slower and be more accurate at range, and the voice command suck! There are some good things tho, like the covert ops idea that owns and the xp points. So overall i like it but it could be better, alot better

DragonFly April 24th, 2003 02:36 PM

I didn't mind it yes there is some things that gotta go or be changed such as the voice chats, but you gotta keep in mind this is only a beta test.

...and it's FREE... Do you think that if they thought it was an amazing product they wouldn't put a price tag on it? I think they knew it's not as good in many aspects as RTCW; that's why it's free....

I hope people still play RTCW...

Bones|37 April 24th, 2003 02:45 PM

yer i hope it flops coz wolf is betta and if it dont flop then ppl will all play ET not RTCW

BanaanNL April 24th, 2003 03:13 PM

Beta test or not, I just don't like what they have done too the game, it's a bit of a screwed up bani mod ( didn't like that too )
There are too much objectives, compass looks like a christmas tree.

Maybe I've got too get used too it but for now I'm playing the old (real) version

See ya out there Bones !:cya:

It's free because the Single Player game didn't progress like they'd hoped, so they scrapped the idea of releasing Enemy Territory as a retail stand-alone game.

KoRn_Warrior_ April 24th, 2003 08:14 PM

the game has some cool stuff, i love the mobile mg. The tank is a pretty good idea but its easy to hold off. The game is good and i like playing covert ops, planting mines, and throwing satchels all over the place. Good game, could be better, but its something new and RTCW related so me likes :)

LOGAN April 24th, 2003 08:19 PM

good lord korn way to come out of nowhere:lol: yeah coverts cool just wanna play where its not so damn choppy throws my aim to crap

FlederMaus! April 24th, 2003 08:47 PM

Three of us played on a LAN tonight at my house. It was much smoother naturally and you could actually aim. One of my computers is just a pentium II 400mhz and it ran on there pretty well too.
Until there are more servers with more horsepower on the internet, it will be hard to judge the game.

The game has a lot of elements similar to Battlefield 1942 in it. The limbo map, the fact you can run into some houses and get ammo, etc.

Other cool things.
ET allows you to make multiple PROFILES. Various users can use the same computer yet have totally different keyboard setups, names, mouse speed, resolutionk, etc.

Recording Play. Hit f12 and it starts recording the action. You can review the action and switch angles, etc etc. Pretty neat feature.

NOTE to those who downloaded the "leak" program. This is NOT compatible with the "official" program. We found this out tonight as one computer had the newer program, the other 2 had the "leak" program. The official program could not find the server that was running the "leak" program. The official version will show MANY more servers on it. The "leaker" will show maybe 10 servers.

Hayate April 25th, 2003 09:11 AM

I don't like the game, there are some cool features though like the ammo & med packs available in that warehouse.

the new weapons, another player class, ranks, experience etc...

but, the game is too laggy, you can't aim for s*** when it gets veeryyy choopy.

I think they should of just released a weapons patch for RTCW so you can use all the weapons in that.

The voice commands suck.

personally I hope it doesn't kick off that way ppl will still play RTCW.

DS^Steve Vai X April 25th, 2003 02:06 PM

Scale of 1-10 I give it a 4.

WAY TO FREAKIN much like MOHAA.

JMHO SVX(DS)

Vanthem April 25th, 2003 03:26 PM

Enemy Territory even in its beta form blows Medal of Honor away easily in my ever so humble opinion. But it really does have that MoH/Battlefield/Wolfenstein hybrid vibe to it, I just don't think that's a bad thing.

That scores a lil' high ain't it?

I'd give it a 3 @ best.

Admiral8Q April 25th, 2003 08:57 PM

To be honest I am very disapointed in ET. I'm sticking to the original RTCW. I agree it is alot like MOHAA which I was not real impressed with either. I hate having to protect stupid bots. The gameplay just isn't appealing. There are so many out there that we're fun at first but just got boring like MOHAA, Ghost Recon, as well as a million others that I have played. Anyways, I may play it now and then, maybe once in a blue moon but RTCW is still my favorite first person shooter ever

PanzerKiddie April 26th, 2003 04:53 AM

I love ET. Can't get enough of it.

I love rtcw to...but it was getting boreing. Endless fire fights with thompsons and mp40s,and eventually someone good with a sten shows up and livens changes up a little. And you get panzered, flamered, venomed,or sniped every so often..beach DOES get boreing the 1,000000 time

I agree with admiral about games that get boreing- mohaa,sof2,bf1942,vietcong,ravensheild-countless others have failed to hold my attnetion-rtcw has, though it's started to loose its luster(I play global operations just as much as i play RTCW,where before i allways pefered and played rtcw....) And then along comes ET- gives me everything that made those games fun for a while, the great parts of rtcw(a bit some changes) that kept my hooked-Plus tons of new features and some not seen in games often(Going prone)....and the great class balancing/etc is still there....I love it.

I'am going to be playing ET a lot more then normal RTCW,but you can still expect to see me playing on the servers i'am a regular at...In fact,i'am sort of sad they'll only be six maps. In my option, all you et bashers need to find a good server, and have a closer look.

Admiral8Q April 26th, 2003 04:58 AM

People need to be playing more custom maps Panzerkiddie. That makes it not boring. I loved alot of those custom maps, some were lame but many were cool. Beach is boring after the thirty millioneth time playing it  To be honest, I don't know why people still play it

Sugbu April 26th, 2003 07:27 AM

ET isn't bad, although it needs more tweaking. One aspect I'm not crazy about is that the weapons sound kinda weak - a little too artificial for my hearing if you know what I mean. Looking forward to the finished product, though.

PanzerKiddie April 26th, 2003 08:16 AM

<points admiral to his attempted top ten greatest multiplayer maps of all time for rtcw...> Post there, then :p

Admiral8Q April 26th, 2003 11:10 PM

The only thing I like in ET is the way grenades work. I don't think you have to worry about everyone switching over to ET because it's not really that great. I was just playing and it was dull and boring.

When someone is calling for a medic it sounds like their half asleep  At least I know I can play ET if I'm having trouble getting to sleep

My Freakin Foot April 27th, 2003 12:52 AM

Only problem with custom maps is as a server admin no one downloads them so we are stuck running beach and all those others to have anyone play in our server. You put a custom in server goes empty!!!

As for Enemy territory, It all looks like other games, and they took out the vemon. That gun there is a wolfenstein tradition, looks like the makers better shape up or ship out. Cause i aint playing a fake version of BF1942 with a wolfenstein logo

As for that wolf tactics mod even worse than E.T!!!!!!

Maxx April 27th, 2003 07:48 AM

The game Rocks, although it does need a little bit of tweaking. There is a lot more to do than in a standard RTCW game. This game has real potential. If you are having problems with Lag try a different server. I have a cable Modem and I have no problems finding a game with 0 Lag. I loved playing RTCW multiplayer but I can't play another game of Beach. All of the maps and games in RTCW boil down to the same thing, this game opens up endless possibilities.

Ragnar_40k April 27th, 2003 10:10 AM

I love ET and dont understand why some people dont like it.
ET is different from RtCW and requires some new tactics - so if you play ET like RtCW you probably miss the hole fun!

Cosmos April 27th, 2003 01:59 PM

I have made available a demo which can be placed in your demos folder!
Its a good round and Ive made it downloadable at the link below.
http://v.servegame.com/ ;)

My Freakin Foot April 27th, 2003 03:14 PM

If you can't play E.T like rtcw, then there is a problem! How does this game map differ from rtcw sytle maps other than building things? From what I seen, it is the same as any map out there, get to the depot and blow it up. The rest of the stuff in the map is just killing fun!

The game is alright for being a copy of BF1942 with a wolfenstein logo. Wish they came up with something more original! This is probably the reason why the single player didnt make it. Cause the single player was following the RTCW way while the Multiplayer makers were just copying other games, and they knew that we would see that and they cut out the single player.(not that i care for single player)

I hope the full version is better!!!!Or is this what we have to look forward to?????

Maxx April 27th, 2003 05:15 PM

Well for starters you gain experience as you play through a campaign which gives you extra ablities (Dual weapons Rocks!!) It plays like RTCW but you have more options and more posibilities. There is a multitude of things to choose from. I like having all of the options of ET. Plus it's free. If you can complain about getting a free game then you have personal problems.

Dark Lotus April 27th, 2003 05:39 PM

What's everyone's top score for 3 full matches? I just got a 1116. I want to make it to 2000

Admiral8Q April 27th, 2003 06:36 PM

ET would rock if they kept the original RTCW engine and just implimented all the new abillities.

From what I've been reading, they had tons of problems with ET and that's why they decided to give it out for free.

lol, I've never worried about score in the original RTCW, I haven't payed attention to it in ET either.

Only thing I really liked in ET over RTCW was the way grenades work! (did I say this already? Yes I did, oops)

erm......why do u like the grenades? do u think ppl in real life couldnt throw a grenade straight? That is a bug that will be fixed in the final, the grenades are random and very odd. Teammates fall victim to them more then enemies. ET is good, but it need more stuff, i think the majority of the sounds are good. Its better then nothing.

Admiral8Q April 28th, 2003 06:53 AM

So I suppose you have experience then in throwing grenades in real life?

Actually I like the way they explode compared to rtcw, less hollywood style ;)

Luger9mm April 28th, 2003 07:46 AM

Ummm, I was just wondering can you play the original RTCW maps with ET? and if not will people be able to make custom maps? Also, any news on when ET will be released?

I picture throwing a live nade would be quite similar to throwing a baseball. The way you throw nades in ET is like you have down syndrome. Nothing against the disease, but I know I can throw a baseball a helluvalot straighter than ET does it.... Perhaps the men have malaria and are incappable of throwing correctly....

Boost April 28th, 2003 06:39 PM

I like this a lot. I don`t really see it as a copy of BF1942 etc - its just refining what wolfenstein had and lacked. Prone position, new weapons like mortar and hmg are great. The grenades do seem a little weaker and the throwing style is gumby, also when you shoot someone they just fall to the ground - seems a bit sudden, but all little things to rfine or adapt to. But still has the Wolfenstein feel and basic gameplay - work as a team. The voice cmds do sound a bit lame too. But I cant wait for the full version.

KoRn_Warrior_ April 30th, 2003 06:47 AM

sorry, if you throw something forward and it shoots all the way to the left, mabye 20+ feet off, and u throw it gentally about 5 ft infront of you then something is wrong, most things dont fly in random directions when u throw them, unless they are a flying animal, a feather, or some lighter or living object. I have no experience with grenades....but if throwing a grenade 5ft away from you and it suddenly goes left and lands 20ft to ur left......that is not right.

99% no for rtcw maps, but who knows.....we could be suprised. Im sure custom map makers will have their chance to make some maps, and the final should be out very soon.

REAL SHAME, ITS A GOOD GAME

Jim_1003 May 8th, 2003 08:54 AM

So disapointed

Damn im disapointed :(

I was realy looking forward to the release of E.T but today i downloaded the BETA and with great expectations i started the game.

What the f*** is this .. is exactly like medal of honor .. and god knows i hate that game. So slow i get panic walking around. And the sounds ?? machineguns that sounds like softairguns .. and talk.. oh boy .. sound like they are taking a shit as they speak.
I can count up 100 things that suck but i will stop here :)

But i saw its not even activision thats made the game .. some santa company has made this game and im pretty sure they are involved in MH and BF1942 cuz the game has real close moves as those.

from a scale on 1-10 i give this a weak 3.

I will stay in the real game and wait for activision to make a sequal. I know im not alone to feel like this so the war will go on in the real RTCW-game

See you out there ..Over and out !

Milhouse May 8th, 2003 01:18 PM

I'm downloading the game right now, but after reading this thread I'm considering cancelling that download...

anyway, I guess the problem here is obvious, RTCW was developed by Grey Matter Studios, but ET is being developed by Splash Damage.... guess we all know where all the talent is between those two teams

I'm wondering why id Software didn't have Grey Matter develope ET though. You'd think it would logical that the developer of the original would be the one working on the sequel.

LOGAN May 8th, 2003 01:30 PM

well the game isnt horrible there are alot of good ideas in the game. this is just a test demo. once the whole game comes out and godwilling they take the gamers playing the games advice it could be quite good. i like the game its just i cant play it with all the lag. of course i haven't played for a while so maybe its gotten better (but from recent posts i doubt it) . well just have to wait and see the finshed product and hope it turns out good.

Milhouse May 8th, 2003 01:42 PM

oh my god what have they done?? This isn't Wolfenstein at all! Granted it's not BAD, but it's just not Wolfenstein as we know it. :(

spans May 8th, 2003 02:24 PM

I think its really cool, it has some great ideas, ok the sounds need a lot of polish, but for a beta, it rules

If it ruled too much, we'd be paying for it too

Cool

Well with Wolfenstein, I got what I payed for. I played the demo, loved it, bought the game!

ET is ok I guess, but I can see why they made it free. I've already lost interest in it.

spans May 10th, 2003 05:49 AM

Well, I can not believe that they would leave the voices as they are, but I am very pleased with the general game play, and I think that its a very cool game, sure it wont be packaged quite so nicely, or have such advertising as wolfenstein, but it is free, and available to anyone.

I think it rules and want to thank the all the guys involved for giving their time to write this game, and especially for giving it away for free, lets face it how often do companies just give stuff away, they could have just cancelled it. Personally I can't wait to see the finished job...

Good one
