Dedicated server from commandline I wish to host a dedicated server on a WIndows 2003 server that I am running. This does not allow me to bring up a GUI to choose what type of server that I wish to set. Is there a dedicated server program available? If not, do you run the serevr from a command line, or a batch file and edit a .ini file to reflect the game settings. |
yes there is a way from command promt im just trying to remmeber how its somethign like from run "C:\STVEF\stvoyHM.exe" +exec serverscript1.cfg +set_dedicated 1 that tells it to laod a config script you make and to load the server dedicated its something like that cant be sure or alternavely try EFRunner run it from dedicated off that GUI with all the command set and so makes its own cfg file simple |
How do I run EFrunner? Ok, I am looking at the blue box, after I started the server. When I type EFRunner, it tells me that it is invalid server command. Do I need to type "run EFRunner" or what is the proper conetext for runnign server commands? |
No, EFrunner is a seperate program that can be found at www.gamerunners.com it makes all the map rotations server config files and loads them automatically from a GUI interface (a pretty looking program) this is good for beginners to Q3 engine game servers the more advanced way is to make your own configuration files and load them from the console (the blue screen) once you make it you place it in the bnaseEF foldre and in the blueconsole type (without quotation makrs "exec filename" this will load all your settings next you load what map or map cycleing file you want you make your map rotation file and do the same as what you do with the config files or alternatly you type "map themapsname" eg "map ctf_voy2" and it will load that map and keep cycling that map for each game whilst a mapcycle file will change to anew level every new match |
Thanx for the info VR. This is all clearing up for me. One question, can you bring up the console without starting the game? I would like to try it that way. If not, how do you bring it up without starting an instance of the server? Last night I found that I can start my server with this command. C:\EF2\EF2.exe +set dedicated 2 +exec my.cfg I would like to work with the console more, and get thefeel for its commands |
Yep, that blue screen is excatly the same as the console all commands that goes in the console will go in there http://eliteforce.ravensoft.com/help...cated_serv.htm theres some nice server related commands |
