Possible Contests
 

Again, I am putting feelers out to the community to see what people are up for doing! I was just wondering if I was to organize a few contests for the community whether they be model, retexture, site banner or maps would people be interested in joining them?

Like always, feedback is welcomed both good and bad! ;)

Time permitting, I would be interested. :)

I often have a fiddle around in Photoshop at the least.

Alas, my modding skills are very limited and I'm also short on time these days. Also, I generally frown on any kind of serious (if you know what I mean) competition. From my experiances so far, it creates hostile atmosphere and makes people who lose feel bitter and angry. Plus, those who win tend to gloat and make everyone else feel inferior which furtherly enhances bitterness and anger at the people who lost. But, that's just what I experianced so far. I sincerly hope that people in Elite Force community aren't like that.

I see where you are coming from but rest assured, I have never once seen a community go to war with each other over contests. I have faith in this community, I don't think people will go spare over a few contests. :cool:

Well it may be interesting but I'm afraid I agree with Tricorder on a few points.
For you see I have been with the EF community for a while now and know sometimes we can be a wee bit aggressive and sore losers:(.
More agressive than anything and I'm not talking constructive comments I'm talking full on rude and often attacks on another person. Whether it be their character intelligence or whatever it happens more often than most of us would like. I can't really say much since I have taken part in some of such activities before but I'm working on it much like the rest of us.
Though I do believe that such contest could strenthen the community they could also weaken it. Though in the end it is your call. Good luck to you.

That is a shame but I am willing to go down that road. Anyone gives guff then thats is their problem :)

I would have to majorly disagree with you.

I will admit, that there have been heated disagreements in the FileFront neck of the Elite Force Community in the past, but that shouldn't be allowed to negate the other sensible and responsible people.

Off the top of my head, I can only name three people that I consider genuine bad apples - out of the entire EF Community; that's a very small number.

bad apples are no biggie, however if you are talking about bad banana's then forget it guys, we might aswell shut down the internets..:uhoh:

Seriously though, it won't be that bad..the winners of any contests will go to voting by the community which is by far the fairest way possible ;)

Seriously though, three people is nothing compared to most of the other Star Trek Gaming communities. I think we've got it quite lucky. =p
