Actually at the current time there are no Borg scheduled to make an appearance sorry. But rest assured it's going to be awesome nonetheless!

Its always good to have at least 512megs of Ram. It'll require around 128-256 im sure however.

you forgot to mention that ef3 is a mod for Half life 2 as I remember it correctly
that is one of their mistakes
they could have done better with the quake 3 engine
which is used by Ef2 at this point everybody who want to play ef3 has to buy Half life 2 first
why not make an addon for Ef2
every ef fan has it

EF2 is undoubtedly pretty cool.. but it's plagued by some horrible bugs that are frankly quite annoying.
I believe the team also wants to try out a newer engine that appears to give much better results.

Anyway, Speed has made his decision quite clear on why it's for HL2.. somewhere on the RItualistic forums..

Why don't we build a new engine?! Because we've got enought (2 coders including myself) work programming in the new MP gametypes and weapon animation stuff that everyone wants, let alone coding a new engine that would take several years and not be half (excuse the pun) as good as Quake III or Half Life II

Hangon, I'm a bit of a n00b in these things but, EF3 is not going to be in stores? But you have to purchase it online? Or just download it? And you need Half Life 2 on your PC to play EF3? Isn't there a way to COPY the engine of half life 2 and modify the copy? Or can't you make a new engine? Half life made a new engine, Quake made a new engine, other games made new engines, why not Elite Force III?

Look all, were making EF3 because if we don't there WONT be an EF3 for a LONG LONG time...if ever. And by that time there will be no EF community left. We are using the HL2 engine because it has a varity of features that we think EF3 will need. Including waaaaaay better graphics. If we used the AGING Q3 engine that both EF and EF2 use it wouldn't be much of an EF3 now would it? If we were to make our own engine the graphics might not even look as good as EF1 and would take us a whole lot longer to make the game. The fact of the matter is, is that yes EF2 does have better graphics than EF1 but MP just doesnt have the same "feel" as our beloved EF1. So basicly what were doing is making EF3 with the same fast and ferious feel as EF1 but with more up-to-date graphics. There will also be new stuff also however, and perhaps even some vehicles....

And think of it this way, when you go out and buy HL2 you are actually buying EF3 along with it, HL2 is the EF3 platform. So your getting TWO great games for $50!! Whats better than that? So thank us for spending our time to bring you this great game by going out and buying HL2 and downloading EF3.

Not only 2 game while buying HL2... If you go check HL2Files.com you will see that there is already plenty of mod team getting up to make PLENTY of mod for HL2.

Making a new engine? Impossible. Would take age, and at the end, it would suck compare to even the old Q3 one.

We will use HL2 engine for many reason. Graphic, can be easily modify, and many many amazing feature. (Vehicule, normal map, etc.)

We can't sell it, EULA is against that.
So, you will be able to freely download it.

I expect the whole creation process to take at least a year. HOWEVER, we will release it in part. The MP will come out first, and you can maybe expect it around 4-5 month after the release of HL2.

Eh... That's not really a game, just a mod. I won't be getting it for two reasons, I don't have Halflife or whatever it's called, and it isn't going to be canon..

well i will be getting HL2 and definatly downloading the EF3 mod for it and thanks for putting the time into it because i no how long a mod takes and its better not to be rushed so thanks. :thumbsup:

Hmmm, i wish I was specialized in mapping modding and texturing, then I could give a hand. I only have one person that can do a little very little statistics, as in how much damage a weapon does, or a gravity controle. I? I can only play hahahahahaha

Alapha= thinking of a game makeing the script drawing getting the story, some times it can go into Alpha beta like BC did i think

Beta= Testing the game for known bugs like walking threw walls when not ment to and other glitchers and just to test the game over and over for bugs(Takes a Long Time)

Gold= Yeah ready for shipping to be sold in shops

what you could do is play threw a game make a review put down what you like and dislike and see if you see any glitches and stuff and then send off to a Game publisher

theres no harm in trying to but i think it would be hard to get in and game publishers are quite far away from people if you no what i mean

I thought of doing this once but i didcided not to you could ask to work from home hehe

Don't a lot of companies (well, iD at least) make a lot of money from solely licensing out their engines to other software development companies for an insanely huge amount of money? Something a community based modding group probably couldn't afford.

I've been a fan of EF since I first heard it was being developed. I'll be sure to watch this mod closely.

lol, It just sounds fun. I live in a small country where the people think in small terms, nothing but a peace of small land among other countries in Europe, one guess......Holland. But any way I don't think I'll make a chance as BETA tester. The only thing I am on the Net is a clan leader. And it's quite tough, the site is my job, the administration is my job..... Well then, but to work home would be fine, haha. (The only thing is I'm STILL waiting for a DELL computer that went into order in December. Still isn't here). I see someone replied to my old message where i didn't know anything. I know now that it is unofficial and like I said: "I'm thankfull to the ones behind the making of EFIII." I shall be off surfing on the Net once again........bb
