Default Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul Mod (OOO) Guide

Well I finally got the PC version of Oblivion, and it's the GOTY edition! I downloaded OOO and I'm just can't believe how much it changed Oblivion. I need help with all of the new quests. Like with the Dread armor. I only have the helmet which I found in Fort Flecia or Facian. One of those two. I can't find any others! Another one is with those followers of Jephre. This is the one I'm least confused with, but still can't figure out what to do next. And just yesterday, I found an awesome sword called Light of Dawn in an Ayleid ruin somewhere Northwest of Anvil. I knew it wanted revenge on Vampires, so I want to Fort Hastrel, a Vampire lair, and killed all of them in the fort, but didn't get a journal entry. Now what? Last two: Need help on the "Slavers and Smugglers" quest. I've taken the side of the Argonians and have killed I think 3 slaver leaders, but when I go into a cave where Argonians are hiding and talk to their leader, nothing happens. The last one I currently need help with is with the "Skyrim Bandit Clans" quest. I killed the leader at Hidden camp way east in the Jerall Mountains, that one chick with the "Dragon's Skin" cape (forgot which camp), and the, I'm assuming, leader of the Skyrim Bandit Clans. Now what?

And if you could mention anything else about OOO, like other quests and special weapons, that would be great. BTW, I tried looking for a guide through Google, nothing.

I forgot one: in different dungeons I'm finding pieces of armor that belong to someone named Melinus or something like that. I forgot the last name, I think it starts with a P. Anyway when I try to pick them up, it says they're too heavy to move and that perhaps the answer lies somewhere else. Well I've looked everywhere and I can't find this guy. So far I've found the gauntlets, helmet, greaves, and boots, but I only remember the exact location of one, the gauntlets, and the general location of the others. The gauntlets are in the entry level of Fingerbowl Cave, somewhere north of the Imperial City. The helm and greaves are somewhere in Blackwood, east of Bravil, and the boots are in the the Gold Coast somewhere I think. Strangely, the name of the guy who owns the armor sounds familiar for some reason. Is he from the mod or from the "default, unmodded Oblivion"? So where is this Melinus?

I'm not aware if anyone has made a guide to OOO's quests- I haven't even come across many of them except for the one relating to the Dread Armor, the Paladin's Armor, and the Light of Dawn.

And yes Assassin, the guy you are talking about is indeed from Oblivion- he's named Melus Petilius (this is also the quest I mentioned- Paladin's Armor) quest I mentioned. He's the one that you trick to kill for Molag Bal's quest. He's in a village called Brindle Home, which is NE of Skingrad, and SE of Hackdirt village. Once there, you try to pick up the sword on his wife's bed, which'll prompt you for responses. Once you fail at that, go inside the guy's house to a basement under a carpet, and read a book about the armor and what to do. Then go back to the sword and reply correctly, and it'll let you pick up the armor.

Bewarned though that if you have already done Molag Bal's quest, you can not attempt this one.

I haven't been able to get any of the quests started with OOO. Can somebody please tell me how to get the Light of Dawn quest started? I've found the sword, but not been prompted with a quest, nor does the sword do anything when I kill vamps with it... Frustrating as hell tbh.

I read somwhere that version 1.33 removes the journal entries associated with the oo quests, as they were deemed to simplify the game too much (as the mod is trying to get away from the vanilla oblivion oversimplification). therefore, you will not get any journal updates as far as i know (i certainly dont), but the quests will still be functioning. Seems a little counter productive, since in order to know what to do, we need some journal updates....

The Oblivion quest system isn't very fun due to how easy they made it for us. The quest map markers are just rediculous. The journals basically tell us what we have to do and how to do it, taking away from the RPG feeling. If Oblivion's quest system were like Morrowind's, I would have no problem calling Oblivion the best game ever.

Good for you. Doesn't really help the OP's original intent.

I do get journal updates and I have 1.33. I got updates for the light of dawn, the slave trade, the paladin's armor, and other quests. The only thing they've done is to remove the quest pointers and let the player stumble around on their own, which has been in there since their patches and release candidates.

If you found a copy of "Vampires of Tamriel Vol 2", which is found spread across the game world, it'll trigger the quest log. Once you read it, it'll prompt you about the issue. I found my copy in the skingrad fighter's guild.

I've found a fairly nice walkthrough by devakm, a noted modder in the community.

Please take a look in there as well.

Default Re: Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul Mod (OOO) Guide

This is hilarious. One day I found and finished about 80% of the quests I needed help with all in one day, and without help from this thread. I had a virus on my computer so I couldn't get on the internet for a while. There's only two quests I couldn't finish: the Slavers and Smugglers quest, and the Skyrim Bandit Clans quest. I finished all the others. Here's how to get them:

Skyrim Bandit Clans: To get this quest series, simply explore the area in upper Cyrodiil. Eventually you'll come across bandits in Arctic Fur armor. These are the Skyrim Bandits. If you find one of their camps, you'll either find a note from a leader in the clans, or one of the leaders themselves. If you read one of the notes, or kill a leader, the quest series will start. Also, in Bruma, read the warning posted on the wall by the East Gate and you'll also get a journal entry. Want to kill the big leader of the Skyrim bandits? Look at your map. See that little patch of Cyrodiil that stretches into Skyrim right above the "T" in The Jerall Mountains? Go there and you've just found the Skyrim Bandit clans' HQ. The leader of the clans is there and he has some pieces of a special armor that I like to call "The Dragon's Armor". He also has the sword called "The Dragon's Hunger". Don't forget to search the camp for a note. But where is the rest of the armor? Follow the path from the East Gate in Bruma and take the left road when you come to the fork in the road and you'll run into an unnamed (I think) camp. Here, one of the lesser leaders of the Skyrim Bandit Clans has another piece of the Dragon's Armor, the cape. There's also a note here. Another leader of the clans is at Hidden Camp, which is near Silvertooth Cave, the Ayleid ruin Sedor, and Gutted Mine. The leader here does not have a piece of the Dragon's armor, but does have a Noble Dark Steel Rapier and a special enchanted shield. But your Dragon's Armor is still incomplete! Where's the rest? I hate to tell you this, but if you've finished the Fighter's Guild questline, your outta luck, because the last pieces of the Dragon's Armor belong to the leader of the Blackwood Company. If you've killed him, his body may have disappeared and you won't get the armor. But there's still a chance. Open the console, click on the door to the Blackwood Company building in Leyawin, and type "unlock". Enter and go up into the top room, the Blackwood Company leader's quarters. Use the same unlock door technique as mentioned before if necessary. His body might still be there, and it might not. If it is there, he might have the armor, and might not. Sorry if you don't get the full set, but if you do, congratulations, you now have one of the best sets of armor in OOO!

Slavers and Smugglers: Getting this quest series is easy. Simply explore the Blackwood area and you'll eventually find a camp with Slavers in them. There's a lot of them in the area by the Panther River, including one with imprisoned Argonian Slaves. You can either side with the Smugglers (Argonians) or the Slavers (Dark Elves). If your character isn't evil, then side with the Smugglers, since the Slavers are the "bad guys". If your character is evil, then side with the Slavers. But the choice is yours anyway. I'm just making a suggestion. Each side has similar rewards. (I think). I chose the Smugglers. To side with them, free Argonian slaves trapped at a Slaver camp and follow them back to their cave. For some reason you have to lead them to a certain spot in the cave, but don't worry about finding it. Just follow them. If for some reason they start following you, just explore the cave and when you arrive at a certain area, you'll get a journal enter saying that they are safe. To side with the Slavers, kill the three leaders of the Smugglers. They are in three separate caves that are packed with Argonians, making it safer to side with the Smugglers instead of against them. Red Gill cave is a cave installed by OOO and is located at the east edge of Lake Canulus. This is the least protected of the three caves, since it only has one level. Gloom Way cave is another cave installed by OOO and is located in one of the "arms" of the Panther River. This cave has two levels. Blood Clot cave is the most protected. It has 3 levels (or 4) levels. This OOO installed cave is located in one of the "arms" of the Panther River. Drowned Hopes cave does not have a leader, but is packed with Argonians. I forgot where it is located, but it is probably in one the "arms" of the Panther River. Once you've killed off a certain amount of Smuggler leaders, or freed a certain amount of Argonian slaves, you will be able to buy special items from their leaders, such as weapons and armor. Basically, if you want one of the OOO installed weapons or armor, go to one of the leaders and they will likely have some of those weapons and armor. Also, if you go to Cheydinhall and read the warning posted by one of the city gates, you'll get a journal entry.

Light of Dawn: You can find the Light of Dawn sword in an Ayleid ruin in the Gold Coast. I forgot the name of the ruin, but search the Gold Coast and enter every Ayleid ruin you find. If you get one with vampires in it, then you've probably found the right ruin. The ruin also might be in the West Weald, I forgot, but it's probably in the Gold Coast. Check these Ayleid ruins in the Gold Coast: Niryastare, Garlas Agea. Light of Dawn might be in one of those. When you've found the right ruin, you'll find a vampire boss guarding the sword. Kill him and get the sword. Light of Dawn has an infinite charge of 1pt of shock damage on strike. You'll find a book about Light of Dawn in the Skingrad Fighter's or Mage's Guild (I forgot which one it's in, or if it's even in Skingrad.) Reading the book might even trigger the quest series.

Melus Petilius's Armor: You won't be able to get this quest if you've done Molag Bal's quest for the mace. If you want the mace and the Heaven's Fury armor, go to the testing hall by typing in "coc testinghall" in the console and go into the weapons warehouse and find the mace. This way you can have the Mace of Molag Bal and the Heaven's Fury Armor. This is my favorite quest from OOO. In certain dungeons, you may have come across awesome looking armor belonging to Melus Petilius. This armor is actually called Heaven's Fury armor. Its name will change when you have the full set. Melus Petilius is the guy from Molag Bal's quest whose life you have to ruin to get the Mace of Molag Bal. Go to Brindle Home, which is to the west of Gottlesfront Priory, south of Serpent Hollow Cave, and east of Elenglynn, all in the Great Forest. Go to Melus Petilius' house. If you go to Melus' wife's grave, which is kind of hard to find sometimes. (Just search the area around Melus' house.) You'll see a golden claymore sticking out of the ground. Go into Melus' house and search the floor. You'll find a trap door leading to a secret basement. Read the journal next to the shrine to Melus' wife. No, literally, read the whole thing. It's extremely interesting, with great battles between Melus, minotaurs, and ogres. According to the journal, Melus was a great hero, saving the lives of people and helping them with things they couldn't do. Besides, you have to read some of it in order to learn the location of all the armor pieces. I think it starts on page sixteen. If not, then just skim through it. Right down the locations of the armor so you don't forget. When your done reading the journal, go to Melus' wife's grave and activate the sword. You'll be given a pop up with various sayings on it. You must choose the right one in order to quest for the Heaven's Fury armor. Choose the last one (I think) and you'll be able to quest for the armor. When you've got all pieces of the armor, return to Brindle Home, and you'll be able to pull the sword from the grave. When the quest is done, the armor's name changes from "Melus Petilius'" to "Heaven's Fury". The claymore has an infinite charge with various enchantments, and it's a quest item so you can't remove it from your inventory. It takes up 0 space in your inventory though. Congratulations on your new kickass looking armor and sword!

Shadows in a Struggle for Power: I'm not sure who Jephre is, but I know that he is "one with nature", leader of the Sylvan Rangers, and has recently experienced problems with corrupted followers of him. These Corrupted followers are searching for armor known as "Dread Armor", which, when the full set is worn, the wearer is said to be in contact with both the Netherworld and the real world. In various Ayleid Ruins in the Gold Coast Southern Colovian Highlands, and western West Weald, you may have come across these Corrupted followers in braided armor and using braided weapons. You can't put on the armor, since you have to prove yourself worth to Jephre in the depths of Narind. Narind is an OOO installed Ayleid ruin in the area in the Gold Coast east of Anvil, or in the western West Weald. I forgot which one, but it is most likely the first one. Deep in Narind, you will find a green stone. Take it and you will receive the power to summon the guardians of Jephre (animals like boars, wolves, bears) about 8 spells in all, the power to wear braided armor, and you will no longer be attacked by the animals of the wild. This includes Spriggans, you know, those women made of wood.t And when you exit the ruin, the stone will turn into the "Spirit of the Wild" and run off in a certain direction. That direction is a hint. The wolf spirit is trying to lead you somewhere. In the westernmost part of Cyrodill by the Abecean Sea, is an Ayleid ruin called Beldaburo. Right next door is another OOO installed ruin called Yeleri. Inside is the leader of the corrupted followers wearing 4/5 of the Dread Armor, minus the helmet. Kill him and take the Dread Armor. You now have the boots, greaves, gauntlets, and cuirass of the Dread Armor. So where's the helmet? It's in Fort Facian. Actually, I'm not sure. It's most likely that fort. If not, try these: Fort Sejanus, (probably not) Fort Cedrian, (good chance) Fort Flecia (good chance) Fort Entius (maybe). It's most likely Fort Facian, that should be your first stop. I can't start Oblivion right now and check it because I'll lose all this. Check these forts and if one of them has Raiders in them, you probably have the right one. Inside you'll find the helmet. Put it on, along with the other pieces, and you'll get a journal entry saying you feel like you're here, but then again your not. Notice how when you move, dark green clouds come off of the armor. How cool is that! But sometimes this will stop if you enter or exit something. Just take a piece of the armor of and put it back on to get it going again. Now that you have the full set of Dread Armor, (there's no shield) head into the upper part of Cyrodiil where all the snow is. I forgot exactly where it was, but somewhere up there is an Ayleid ruin that you can't enter unless you are wearing the full set of Dread Armor. This Ayleid ruin is, on the outside, just a stone door. It has nothing on the outside. The door is on the side of a mountain, so search snow covered mountains. Don't go into the Valus Mountains though. It's not there. I also don't think it's in the Jerall Mountains, it could be. The Ayleid ruin's name starts with a V, I forgot the full name. When you find it, put on the full set of Dread Armor and enter. Inside are spectral warriors and a boss. This boss has a weapon that you can only wield while wearing the full set of Dread Armor. This goes the same for the ghostly weapons the spectral warriors use. The boss has a sword called Icxth or something like that. It's an enchanted weapon from the Netherworld that has an infinite charge. The ghostly weapons the spectral warriors uses have an infinite charge like Light of Dawn, but they do 1pt of frost on strike instead of shock like Light of Dawn does. When you have Icxth or any other ghostly weapon in your inventory and you unequip your Dread Armor, those weapons will be removed too since they require the Dread Armor in order for you to use them. In some other Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil is some mage that has been searching for the Dread Armor. In the room where you find him is a note describing his search for the Dread Armor. Finding this mage is optional though. You now have finished the longest quest OOO has to offer.

I still need help with the Skyrim Bandit Clans and Slavers and Smugglers quest series, but I finished everything else, (I'm assuming). I did get pretty far in those two quests though. I hope this rough quest guide for OOO helped. Let me know if you find anything else in OOO or if you have any questions. Good luck!
