[spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

Does anyone know where i can get some grand soul gems. Thanks

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

This would also be helpful to me aswell because I am a vampire and I am sick of having to go suck peaple at night...too much of a hassle damnit.

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

Well this probably depends on your level, as most loot and merchant items in this game are leveled...

Check the Mages guild alchemists, they should have some grand soul gems for sale at 200 septims a pop. I had to go to three different mages guild merchants to get 5 soul gems... and now I cant find Nightshade leaves :(

Some other mechants also sell soul gems, usually the general merchandise merchants.

And if you are sneaky and good with a lockpick, the mages guild in Chorrol has some Grand Soul Gems in the display cases.

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

this helps because im also a vampire, but how are you supposed to trade with merchants if you scare them off

If you suck blood your vampire traits get reduced and you can act like a normal character.

Go up to a sleepiing person and hit your activate key (you should see a lil vampire head on the person before you do this) a menu will pop up and there should be 2 options, feed or talk (I think...), and feed and your good. GL

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

*bump* *tip*

feed on members of mage guilds of tramps, they are not easily woken up, unlike imperial guards or other guards who automatically wake up and attack, but this depends on your sneak level, also 1 feed should last you a day of normal mode, then u will need to feed again so time your daily outens wisely, you dont want to be stuck trespassing in the middle of no-were in broad daylight because you can fast travel or wait.

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

I must have caught vampirism during some recent vampire bashing. I am not a vampire yet but the next time I go to sleep I will get the vampire dream and wake up dead. Fortunately I saved it just before going to bed. I'm not keen on being a vampire, it sounds like a pain in the arse. Is there anything I can do now to prevent it or is it too late? If I go to the chapel in Chorral and pray can I avoid becoming a vampire?

Thanks

Nick

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

You can cure your disease (Porphoric Hemophilia) before it becomes full-blown Vampirism, so you still have a chance Nick.

I've been through this, I was a vampire for nearly half of my game because I'd start one quest after another and just kept getting side tracked off of the Vampire Cure quest, feeding off of Mages guild members and Beggars mainly.

Here's the quest, if I miss a step, someone please correct me. SPOILER AHEAD:

Spoiler:
1: you get vampirism.
2 : Talk to a friendly vampire, the guy in the Dark Brotherhood or talk to one of the Count's assistants in Skingrad. They'll both refer you to the Count of Skingrad himself, who is a vampire and has been working on a cure for his wife.
3 : You're refered to a witch lady out in the boondocks. She asks for quite a few things
a; 6 Cloves of Garlic
b; 5 leaves of Nightshade
c; 2 shoots of Bloodgrass
d; 5 Grand Soulgems (which ARE a pain in the arse to get if you are a low level person)
e; Ashes of a very powerful vampire, which she'll tell you about.

4 : after all that, she'll tell you to wait a while, and then she'll have the potion ready. Its enough for two doses, one for you, and one for the Count's wife. Take it back to Skingrad

5 : Talk to one of the Counts assistants and they'll take you to the count in a hidden passage. Talk to the Count, give him the potion, watch the wife die, and viola! Quest over, drink your portion and you're cured.

Next time you'll be more careful before contracting Porphoric Hemophilia... and believe me, you can get it twice...

bincy211 March 29th, 2006 07:20 PM

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

Is it possible to complete the main quest without contracting Porphoric Hemophilia?

I'm thinking of restarting my whole game because of this damn disease...

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

I did too, But ive spent hours making sure I have plenty of 'Cure Disease' potions as well as a spare cure vampirism potion.

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

Yea the vampire cure quest she is supposed to be in the woods by that one river that starts with a C east of imperial city.

ScOrPY March 29th, 2006 09:34 PM

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

If you get the disease go to a church and you can cure yourself before coming a vampire. And for your soul gem needs just go through all the towns to alch shops and buy them. The lady Melisande is at Drakelowe south of the river near Cheydinhal.

Flodgy March 29th, 2006 09:37 PM

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

An easy way to find her would be to make it your active quest, that way you get the marker on your map.

MasterAx March 29th, 2006 09:39 PM

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

Is it on the east or west side of the Corbolo river(the one south of Cheydinhal)? If you could help me pinpoint it better thatd help alot.

ScOrPY March 29th, 2006 09:41 PM

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

east.

MasterAx March 29th, 2006 09:42 PM

Ahh yea i forgot about i could make it the active quest and do it that way thanks.

Where can the other items bedides the soul gems be found?

Ok just need one more nightshade. Anyone know where to get them or where they grow?

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

Wilderness between Bravil and Skingrad, south of Bravil and I've found a few in barrels in dungeons.

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

I gave you all the information you should need in my spoiler tags a ways back, but yeah making it your active quest will actually show you where she lives.

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

TNX to Viper(user I got from) here`s the walktrough to Vampire CUre. :)
Quest - A cure for Vampires
There are a number of ways to initiate this quest. Here is how I did it: I went to Cheydinhal's Chapel of Arkay, though any chapel should do. Talk to someone in there about a cure. They will start you on the quest.

The first step in the quest is to talk to Raminus Polus about a cure. You can find him in the Arcane University located in Imperial City. He will tell you a bit about it, and refer you to Count Hassildor. You can find him in Skingrad. Talk to his stuard, and then eventually he will talk to you. He will tell you about how he and his wife are vampires, and while he lives with it, she could not, and went into a coma. He needs the cure to get her out. He then tells you about witches long ago who could do it, and about one of them which may still be alive.

You can find the witch along the Corbolo River, which is east of the Imperial City. Here is where the fun begins. Before she will help you, you have to help her. She requests you bring her five empty grand soul gems. Though the task may seem daunting, these are easy to find. Inside each Mages guild, there is a shop. Each shop should have one empty Grand Soul Gem for sell. Buy it, or if your good at thievery, pickpocket it. If for some reason these shops do not have Gems, here are a few more places they can be found, though they will be a bit trickier to get.

Gem One: This is an easy one. Go to the Imperial City Market District. Find the Mystique shop. He has one gem for sale. Four to go.

Gem's Two - Four: Your lock picking skills better be up to snuff now. Head to Arcane University. Best to go at night, you will be thieving. Go inside, and on the first floor there is a chest with three Gems inside. All are Grand gems, but I believe two of them are not empty. Take them all anyways. You can empty them if you have a staff or magic item; otherwise they have a decent resell value. Its a level 5 lock, so your going to have to work at it, but its worth the effort. Make sure no one sees you. Once you get it open, take them all.

Gem Five: Head to the Chorral Mage's Guild. Inside, there is a staircase, and display cases to the left and right. The one to the right looks tempting, three gems inside. None are grand though, save your picks. The one the left has one though. It's another level 5 lock, so good luck to you. Once you get this, you have five, but two probably aren't empty. No matter, the hard part should be over.
.

Go visit Melisande again now. She will take your gems, but you aren't done yet. She says she can probably make the cure, but you need a slew of ingredients. She asks you to find six Garlic Cloves, five Nightshade Leaves, 2 BloodGrass Shoots, The Blood of an Argonian, and the dust of the vampire Hindaril. Below you will find locations to all ingredients.

Garlic Cloves: These are fairly easy to find. Many Alchemy shops, Inns, and Mages Guilds have them. Just work your way from shop to shop until you have six. I don’t have any specific locations, but just going shop to shop you should be able to find all six no problem.

Nightshade: You should be able to take care of all five Nightshade in one go. Go to The Finer Ingredient in Imperial City. He should have five. Incase he doesn’t, I was also able to find two in the Mystique shop in Imperial City, as well as in various Mage’s Guild shops.

BloodGrass: This is the easiest part of your quest. Both The Finer Ingredient and the Mystique Shop in Imperial City have four, so take your pick. If you want to find it in the wild, it is all over Oblivion, so find yourself a gate and you should be able to come across BloodGrass pretty quick.

Blood of an Argonian: Melisande gives you a special dagger or this. You don't need to kill them, just give them a good stab and hide so the guards don't nab you. For those of you who don't know, an Argonian is the lizard looking people.

Hindaril's Vampire Dust: If you are at a decent level by now, this should be a breeze. At level 5, this was a cakewalk. Go to the location on your map. It is pretty straightforward navigating your way there. Once inside the cavern, you will have a few things to pick off before you get to your vampire. I ran into a few rats, a few skeletons, and two lesser vampires before I got to him. I made short work of them all. Hindaril was the easiest of them all though. He was sleeping, and I was able to kill him before he even got to his weapon. I made short work of him. If he manages to get to his weapon, he may be more difficult, so don’t bother with sneaking around, just run in and kill him.

So, you now have everything. Take it all back to Melisandre. She will tell you she can prepare the cure, and to come back in 24 hours. This is it. Go enjoy your last night as a Vampire. Feast on everyone you can get your bloody hands on. Then go take a nap. The next day, pay your friend a visit again. The cure will be done. Feel free to drink it. You are now officially cured, but your quest isn't over. Remember the count? Head back to Skingrad and pay him a visit. You will be taken to the place where his wife rests. Melisandre will be there also. After a bit of dialogue, he gives her the cure, but it kills her. He requests you give him 24 hours to grieve. Go back into the Count's Mansion and just wait for 24 hours. Same as before, talk to the Count. He will thank for you putting his wife at ease, and reward you with 500 gold. The quest is now officially complete. Congradulations!

Known Bugs: I have had several reports of Melisandre not accepting BloodGrass. Unfortunately, I do not know what causes this bug, and have been unable to reproduce it. If anyone can figure out what is causing this, please E-mail me.

Some people have been E-Mailing me saying they cannot find Hindaril’s cave. Make sure a Cure for Vampirism is your active quest, and it should point you in the right direction. If not, the name of the cave is Redwater Slough. Hopefully you can find it.

Another bug I have had people report is that when going to take care of the Count, the lady you talk to does not go get the count like she is supposed to. If that happens, go outside, and to your left you should come across the Count’s hidden chamber.

I got this bug :(. So damn anoying.

Not sure what to do now. I tried loading a game saved before it, then I went to shops and such to re-buy, but some shops had their stuff already sold! (sold to me on the saved game after). Now I can't continue because of the damn bright sun light outside, if I load current game I'll die. I got no other choice but to lose some more game time and try it again... I presume there isn't any other way for a cure and I am pretty much stuck.

For all of you who are having the same bug as me, I found a mod that can fix this! This mod puts in potions that cure Vampirism 100 % that you can buy, as there is no other way to get rid of it, this is your only choice.

Here's a link to the mod: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.co...s.Detail&id=47 (You must be a member of Fileplanet)

It totally works! :D

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

U will be a Vampire if u get the Porphoric Hemophilia fighting a vampire, AND if u sleep before going pray at a altar of nine, in any church, that would had cure the Porphoric Hemophilia disease :bawl: ...
U have to get a save before u had the first dream, if u dont wanna go for the long cure quest, use cheat, or restart the game....
So just make sure u never sleep with the Porphoric Hemophilia curse, if u forget get a previus save, and u should be ok to go true the game whitout being a vampire. Good luck. :)

Cloud rulez! April 4th, 2006 07:23 PM

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

If there's ever a need for nightshade you can generally find it in the alchemy shops or lying around mage's guilds. Also they're pretty common around graves and stuff.

Re: [spoilers] Help, Oblivion vampire cure quest

There is a readme file in the .rar, if you read that you should know everything. All I had to do was reading it and I wasn't a vampire anymore ;)

But to answer your question directly as to who it is who sells the potions, it's the Dark Elf female in the Skingrad Alchemy shop (the one that asks for the bill of "doing it" with dead bodies).
