South of the witch house, there is a huge cave with about 30 treasure chests in it

I found 4 grand soul gems in this cave alone, and I am pretty sure the fifth one was there as well, because there was an area I can't reach.

Two are easy to get while the other two requires average lockpicks jobs.

Now, I'll save often, because I don't want to face the terrible game glitch everyone is talking about.

Now that I gave her everything she needs and went through a lot of mess (forgot that I had to stab a lizard face with a CHARGED knive), she said come back in 24 hours...

Numerous 24 hours later, she is still in the basement...

Ok I gather the Items then do the quest ohh and if she it still in the basment save and load your game and sometimes she comes up once I broke into her house and into the basment and she was stuck trying to walk through a table

ok, this is an old discussion board.. but I try anyways:

how on earth did I GET vampirism????? I did not recognize having a desease or such, although I read that you have a desease first? Did I get bitten while I was asleep?
did it happen when I was fighting vampires in that cave north of the cloud top dungeon (Fingers of the mountain quest) - and if so, how? should I have not eaten the vampire dust :rolleyes: ??

You probably got it from just fighting a vampire. You first get the disease and I think 3 days after you start to become a vampire. To be normal again you can either do the Vampire cure quest and get the cure potion, drink a regular cure disease potion, or pray @ a chapel in any main city.

sorry for the double post but i would suggest using magic to get her where you want o go it will be alot easier, less time consuming and you will hopefully not end up with 14k bounty like me. :)

Please read-----> Everyone that was unlucky and got the bug that wont let you talk to the count or when the argonian servant leads u no where. This solution is a real pain and took me a little bit to get it right. Also put 14,000 bounty on my head. Anywho try to drag the iguana servant to the secret door where you were supposed to go through. Knock that servant unconscious and drag her there or use illusion magic idc. But once your there right next to th secret entrance, for some people who don't know where it is Google it. Its right where the stair case starts outside up to the deck. once you get her ther she will say the count waits for you inside or whatever and the door will open. Walah.

All people that want to avoid this problem if haven't already try to stay as close to the servant as possilbe when she says to follow her and don't talk to her or get in her way at all!.

Mainly the problem was a stupid by Bethesda that made that servant go there and without collision detection. So which means if she hits something or if shes not close enough to you ur screwed.

to get grand soul gems u have to buy them to get nightshade i found some near kvatch for the other stuff bloodgrass is in oblivion and garlic is all over the place :)

Dont know if its been said but, theres a Grand soul gem in the Witches basement, theres other gems too.

In Chorrol mages guild theres some empty and full... and u can by more there too.

not sure if it's said but theres a grand or two in the acane university lobby i think.

If your feeling really gutsy you could also try stealing them out of the display case in the Arch Mage's Lobby at the Arcane University there are 3 of them in there

Theres a glitch that can spawn you as many soul gems or any other item as you want, check it out on youtube by typing in grand soul gem

Im having really bad problems collecting the argonians blood, everytime i slash one, it says "dagger isnt charged." Is this a bug or am i not doing anything right, because its driving me up the fucking wall.

Look soul gems can be acquired at the mages guild for 300+ or at the display case in the guild

i have 5 grand soul gems, 2 of them occupied, how can i please get them emptied for the old witch ? i have been to the mages around the land and they only want to buy my empty ones(which i obviously dont want to sell). im fed up giving love bites at midnight to any poor sleeping soul (what kind of life is that ?)

you know its better to get black soul gems they capture the souls of npc's instead of monsters

Grand soul gems can be bought in some alchemy/mage shops.
it can also be found in alot of the mages guilds either in display cases or from one of the merchants.
and can be dropped from higher level monsters and the occasional lower level mones.

lets just go through the whole thing...

Garlics - can be found in houses in Skingrad. normally above the fire place or in the basement.
Blood grass - Can be found in or around an oblivion gate
Nightshade - Alot of it grows south/east of skingrad
Argonian Blood - Quite simply go and chop up an argonian. City swimmer in Bravil would be a good choice because she will most likely be killed anyway.
and for the vampire just follow where she tells you to go it should be quite simple

yea.. I just made an account cuz I wanted to ask u guys... I recently have succumbed to vampirism... I read that if u go to the church in chorrol.. aka weynon priory.. u can be cured... I went there, and activated the urn or whatever... how do u know if u have been cured? cuz I still have some of the vampiric spells like "hunter's delight or eye" w/e it is... so am I cured???

first, the church in chorrol isnt the weynon priory. the weynon priory is a separate building outside of town. second, theres no urn in either of them. third, who the heck told you that? theres a quest called the vampire cure quest and this is the ONLY way to get rid of vampirism other than cheats. it can be started by talking to the count of skingrad

can someone help me i got the grand soul gems and have given them to the witch. Then she gave me a list of things i need to get. One if 2 shots of bloodgrass which can be found in oblivion gates. But everytime i press A to take it it says that i find nothing of use. So i was wondering how i GET THE BLOODGRASS.

You can get grand soul gems in the dragons shrine. Go to the Cemetary on the palace grounds. At noon, the location of the dragon shrine will show on the map as 'Lake Arrius Caverns'.

You can get bloodgrass in any oblivion gate, if there is no more oblivion gates to be closed, go to the location of a closed oblivion gate, there are, normally, a few plants growing around there.

Quest - A cure for Vampires
There are a number of ways to initiate this quest. Here is how I did it: I went to Cheydinhal's Chapel of Arkay, though any chapel should do. Talk to someone in there about a cure. They will start you on the quest.

The first step in the quest is to talk to Raminus Polus about a cure. You can find him in the Arcane University located in Imperial City. He will tell you about how he and his wife are vampires, and while he lives with it, she could not, and went into a coma. He needs the cure to get her out. You can find the witch along the Corbolo River, which is east of the Imperial City. Here is where the fun begins. Before she will help you, you have to help her. She requests you bring her five empty grand soul gems. Though the task may seem daunting, these are easy to find. Inside each Mages guild, there is a shop. Each shop should have one empty Grand Soul Gem for sell. Buy it, or if your good at thievery, pickpocket it. If for some reason these shops do not have Gems, here are a few more places they can be found, though they will be a bit trickier to get.

Gem One: This is an easy one. Go to the Imperial City Market District. Find the Mystique shop. He has one gem for sale. Four to go.

Gem's Two - Four: Your lock picking skills better be up to snuff now. Head to Arcane University. Best to go at night, you will be thieving. Go inside, and on the first floor there is a chest with three Gems inside. All are Grand gems, but I believe two of them are not empty. Take them all anyways. You can empty them if you have a staff or magic item; otherwise they have a decent resell value. Its a level 5 lock, so your going to have to work at it, but its worth the effort. Make sure no one sees you. Once you get it open, take them all.

Gem Five: Head to the Chorral Mage's Guild. Inside, there is a staircase, and display cases to the left and right. The one to the right looks tempting, three gems inside. None are grand though, save your picks. The one the left has one though. It's another level 5 lock, so good luck to you. Once you get this, you have five, but two probably aren't empty. No matter, the hard part should be over.

Go visit Melisande again now. She will take your gems, but you aren't done yet. She says she can probably make the cure, but you need a slew of ingredients. She asks you to find six Garlic Cloves, five Nightshade Leaves, 2 BloodGrass Shoots, The Blood of an Argonian, and the dust of the vampire Hindaril. Below you will find locations to all ingredients.

Garlic Cloves: These are fairly easy to find. Many Alchemy shops, Inns, and Mages Guilds have them. Just work your way from shop to shop until you have six. I don’t have any specific locations, but just going shop to shop you should be able to find all six no problem.

Nightshade: You should be able to take care of all five Nightshade in one go. Go to The Finer Ingredient in Imperial City. He should have five. Incase he doesn’t, I was also able to find two in the Mystique shop in Imperial City, as well as in various Mage’s Guild shops.

BloodGrass: This is the easiest part of your quest. Both The Finer Ingredient and the Mystique Shop in Imperial City have four, so take your pick. If you want to find it in the wild, it is all over Oblivion, so find yourself a gate and you should be able to come across BloodGrass pretty quick.

Blood of an Argonian: Melisande gives you a special dagger or this. You don't need to kill them, just give them a good stab and hide so the guards don't nab you. For those of you who don't know, an Argonian is the lizard looking people.

Hindaril's Vampire Dust: If you are at a decent level by now, this should be a breeze. At level 5, this was a cakewalk. Go to the location on your map. It is pretty straightforward navigating your way there. Once inside the cavern, you will have a few things to pick off before you get to your vampire. I ran into a few rats, a few skeletons, and two lesser vampires before I got to him. I made short work of them all. Hindaril was the easiest of them all though. He was sleeping, and I was able to kill him before he even got to his weapon. I made short work of him. If he manages to get to his weapon, he may be more difficult, so don’t bother with sneaking around, just run in and kill him.

So, you now have everything. Take it all back to Melisandre. She will tell you she can prepare the cure, and to come back in 24 hours. This is it. Go enjoy your last night as a Vampire. Feast on everyone you can get your bloody hands on. Then go take a nap. The next day, pay your friend a visit again. The cure will be done. Feel free to drink it. You are now officially cured, but your quest isn't over. Remember the count? Head back to Skingrad and pay him a visit. You will be taken to the place where his wife rests. Melisandre will be there also. After a bit of dialogue, he gives her the cure, but it kills her. He requests you give him 24 hours to grieve. Go back into the Count's Mansion and just wait for 24 hours. Same as before, talk to the Count. He will thank for you putting his wife at ease, and reward you with 500 gold. The quest is now officially complete. Congradulations!

Known Bugs: I have had several reports of Melisandre not accepting BloodGrass. Unfortunately, I do not know what causes this bug, and have been unable to reproduce it. If anyone can figure out what is causing this, please E-mail me.

Some people have been E-Mailing me saying they cannot find Hindaril’s cave. Make sure a Cure for Vampirism is your active quest, and it should point you in the right direction. If not, the name of the cave is Redwater Slough. Hopefully you can find it.

Another bug I have had people report is that when going to take care of the Count, the lady you talk to does not go get the count like she is supposed to. If that happens, go outside, and to your left you should come across the Count’s hidden chamber.

right no jk i spent bout 3 hrs of my life reloading infront of this god dam locked chest thng to get these god dam grand soul gems ryt cz i ad to lok pik ova n ova n ova until i finally managed to open the twat of a thng and guess wot? the lady dnt even acknowledge the fact that ive got 5 grand soul gems BECAUSE THEYRE STOLLEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ugh ffs ow do i get these stupid stupid stones arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :mad:

its easy to find soul gems depending on your lvl im 40 odd so i dont have much problam but if ur lower u should go to all the mages guilds and buy the grand soul gemes there, its not hard but its awsome being a vampire i took the cure cause i needed to do something and then when i tried to get infected again i relasied i couldnt because i have taken the cure vamparisim potion so be sure u never want to be a vampire again cause you cant go back to bein one :)

Please help me. I am at the part in the vampire cure quest where I go and give the cure to the count of skingrad. I then waited 24 hours like you are supposed to and then went and contacted the lady that summons him for you. I got bored of waiting for him so I skipped 1 hour and he never came. Whenever I talk to him he just replys "Please, go"

Do you guys have any advice or suffer the same problum. Please help me lol

This is simple if you can lockpick go talk to lady etc etc then just go to a mages guild at night and rob the place, i chose the one at chorrol, BUT!! i havent changed back yet because i feed at 1am and im a (bad guy) so when i feed im most probably robbing a shop or someone and all the effects really help tbh i mind it much more better as a vampire you just got to get the hang of it and it pays off!! oh and if you dont wont to steal, grand soul gems are normally in cave infact theres one in crayfish cave near the old ladies house!! but when you take a gem from a cave a will-o-wisp will come after you and alert all the trolls and everything so run like hell!! hope this helps :)

I know where to find 2 grand soul gems, go to the imperial city, go to the market district at mid night about 12 pm then you need to get in the shop of rindir's staffs there you can find 2 grand soul gems, I suggest to get the skeleton key first then it will be easy. :D

Right this is how to collect all the things needed.

1, Go into an oblivion gate and get 2 bloodgrass roots. Simple.
2, Get Nightshades at that ingredients place in the market in Imperial city.
3, Go around the guilds getting those soul gems.
4, Theres a reptile thingy in various fighters guilds who love to sleep every now and again. Make sure the guards dont catch you, but if they do its no biggy. Only 50 gold.

If you have a ps3 and you fnid one grand sould gem you can duplicate in by doing this:

you need 2 of the same magic scroll and a grand soul gem

then go into the menu where u can select your scroll that u have 2 of

double click the scroll then go to the grand soul gem and drop it

This should duplicate it if not u may have done something wrong or i said it wrong

And some items cant be duplicated.

i did this today because i also got turned into a vampire and needed the soul gems

I got a question about sumthing realy ticking me off bout this quest. I've done everything in the quest right until the wife dies and the count says come back later. so i wait a while do a couple other quests then come back and talk to his steward. she says that she will go get the count for me then stops talking, but doesn't move and doesn't go get the count. i even broke into the counts room and found him myself but he says "please go" and stops talking. and since neither of them are talking i cant get help for the bruma gate in the main questline let alone my reward. what should i do? plz and thanks

Wait until some time in the middle of the day, usually after 8 AM. At night, they'll be in their beds and talking to them will be considered trespassing since you have to break into their quarters.

Just wait until 10 AM or so, and the count should come out and sit on his throne like usual.

Also, I suppose it's pretty obvious, but if you don't want to bother with the whole Vampire Cure quest, buy the Deepscorn Hollow expansion pack. There is a really easy way to cure vampirism once you own the place.

Are u sure? cuz ive been there time after time again and no one is ever there. I'll go check now, but it seems like its stuck at the part where he is greiving over his dead wife, and the steward wont go get him. but thanks a lot i hope it works :)

Eh on PS3 there is a glitch and when you want to give her the blood grass it doesn't show up and
if u click on it she just talks bout where to find it and crap =/
