Mapping issues
 
I have no idea, and i've searched everywhere i could search, and i can't find what i need, so i decided to make a thread for all those who need answers to theyre problems.
So here are mines.

1.- I want to make a bridge, and i only find the sides, how do i make the central part of it???

2.- I made a fortres, but when i try the map, the units ho through the walls, how do i make them unpassable???

Hope someone helps me

I think i finded how to make the walls impassable, with the Impass edit tool

To create a bridge.
You need to build the bridge itself from terrain.
then just add the side objects to the uhm sides

so, i have to restore the height of the terrain after i make the river?

i thought thee would be some other objects for it

Oh but here is somthing i find really annoying- you can't make suspended bridges, for units to walk on

that has something to do with the engine.
The object themselves do not create impassable terrain, as you yourself must have found out with your fortress.

just cun in the river, then use select height, choose the height that used around the river and connect the two sides.
Add the sides, and some decals if you wish to make it look more bridgelike

Actually Kitty, as true as that may be, I was playing on a map where they had a suspendable bridge. I belive it was made by BioUltra. The map wasn't that 'pretty' but it had a suspended bridge.

there is one. I belive it is under ork objects.
But it does not create terrain.
You would have to have the entire terrain disabled (invisible) and simulated via objects thatare on terrain level

Thanks the bridges loook pretty real now hehehe

Now i'm finished, but there are two more things:

1.- How can i make the map that appears in the map selection

2.- the in-game minimap appears green, well not entirely, but it looks like all the ground and walls, everithing is green O_o

someone can help?

you need to make the minimap yourself
Dig trough the new mapping team thread
there are about two tutorials for those
or here should be a link

what do you mean ingame selection?
The picture?
Almost the same as the map
it pertain both.

the mnimap i mean the map that appears when you are playing

and the other, i mean the map that appears in the top corner when you are looking what map to play

And wraith cat-it was a actual suspended bridge my units could walk over it and i could see threw the other side under the suspended part

well i tried to make both images, but i don't know why, they don't appear

look here it is one of them, the one suposed to appear in the map selection menu, the other one (ingame minimap) i still have to do it

it's in .tga (targa) format, but to post here i saved as .jpg, also is in the right size for the game, because i opened the original and pasted this one on it (i made a copy before pasting it of the original one^^)

according to the tutorials it have to be named:

MAPNAME_icon --> for me XST_icon (it's this one)

MAPNAME_mm --> for me XST_mm (the minimap)

and do you have them as 24 bit tga's?
Further, recommend you make a one pixel black line on the edges.
It will otherwise look ugly later.
Further what size is your map.

remember
128x512
256x1024
do not really work

i think that they are 24bits tga, if not i'll change it ;)
also i'll put the black line on th edges thanks

and my map is, if i remember well 512x1024 8 players

I've made that map, and it's already posted on dowfiles, and rated with an 8 ^^

Now i'm kaing another map based also in the same book of the previous one, it's in a labirynth where all the leaders of the 7 raçes of XS have lost and there are some orks too

I need to know if i can make appear a chaos lord, or a sm commander, if the player choses it

What i mean is, if i'm player 1 and i chose chaos, then when the game starts, the command unit is a chaos lord, but if i chose tau, the command unit is a tau commander

Is this possible?
If yes, how can it be done?

it has to be scar scripted

Try pm'ing incarnate or starting a thread on the relic forums.
Better to start your own thread.
Since all the scar experts are there.
I am only beginning to build my knowldege. :~
