Attribute Editor

I was changing some things in the Attribute Editor ( Making squads bigger, more upgrades, changing where things spawn from, etc.) and I clicked Save Binary. When I went to play the game none of the changes took effect.:(
Can somebody help me?

Changing attributes and stats in DC

Okay, long story short: the way the tau are set up in DC is all wrong. I would like to learn how to change attributes, squad sizes, weapon ranges, sight ranges, unit costs ect. (but not actually add any new units or change graphics) Unfortunetly, I have no modding skills. I understand that relic has not yet released modding tools for DC, so making the changes I want may not be possible, yet. However, it isn't too early to start learning. So, I would really be grateful if someone could give me some advice on how to make these simple changes.

Re: Changing attributes and stats in DC

In response to Kendall2000: The tau may be balanced. The problem I have is that they cannot be played in a way that matches their style in the original table top game (at least not in the way I want to do it) and I find that exceptionally irritating.

In response to TheClone: I tried to go to dowwiki.org and found that either the server was down or the page no longer exists. After a bit of investigation I found that the domain name was rumored to have been sold. I also tried to find some info on relics forums, to no avail. Any other suggestions?

Sorry I am not sure how to do this so I am of no help. But yeah if you do happen to tweak em to TT can you share it?

I don't know....

I mean I find myself constantly on the defensive with Tau. Then again it is a new race for me so I need to learn them. They just need a little tweaking like perhaps a bigger squad cap for fire warriors. I play against them I slaughter them like nothing and really don't provide a challenge.

Yeah that is one of the problems I am having.

Another issue is that in TT you could play as either an exclusively tau force or an exclusively kroot force and you were able to put up a decent fight either way. In DC you HAVE to integrate the 2 in order to be even moderatedly effective. And that makes for a less enjoyable game (in my opinion).

Of course I would be willing to share any mods I make. But I have to learn how to make those mods first :D

Re: Changing attributes and stats in DC

Well, I haven't modded in a while so there is stuff I have forgot of-course, but basically you have to create the right folder and file (by cut and pasting) and then you can use the attribute editor to open up the mod file you created and start editing. Once you get to that, the stat part is fairly easy depending on what you want to edit.

Idiot Guide needed

I been playing around with the map editor and got the hang of that and made some maps using a guide I found on the forum but I world like to use the attribute editor but I havent got a clue how to. Does any body know of a guide out there if so let me know please

Bloocobalt November 14th, 2006 06:41 PM

How do you use the Atribute Editor? I need to know, I really want to make it so the scout marines have a guard sergeant and a squad of 9... And make their bolters a bit better... And make the guard sergeant start out with a bolt pistol... Help? Whenever I try to use the mod tool, it says Run-time error'429': ActiveX component can't create object. What's wrong?

I was wondering if there was anyone that could walk me through setting up my mod? Also I'm looking for someone who can teach me how to get my Death Korps models ingame and closer to release. If you know how to do either of these please contact me.

man i have totally no idea how to make a unit or change the attributes of units plz help me

NeophyteXero February 3rd, 2007 12:20 PM

Is it possible to make for example a IG Command Squad that has a say a limit on a particular leader unit. So it becomes greyed out after you build X number of that leader unit. As i see it now only possible to set such limits on 1 unit type per squad, that being the base squad unit.

i need to know what and where to add the tables, values, whatever it is. Im looking at something like:

data/attrib/sbps/races/(race)/(unit)/

squad_leader_ext/
- leader_1/
- - type
- leader_2/
- - type
- leader_3/
- - type
squad_loadout_ext/
- async_ability
- cause_transformation
- trooper_base/
- - type
- unit_max
- unit_min

eyeballs767 February 3rd, 2007 12:24 PM

im not that gd i jus no its possible, try messing around you will prbably get there in the end. try the max leader thingy

gmgiro you dont have lua files from "your" mod you have only RGD so 1)download rgd editor 2)convert rgd to lua and place it to your modtools

Re: Attribute Editor

like the first guy, i save my changes, but they don't turn up and what do they mean by 'perforce'?
and how do you change unit limits, e.g. how many leman russ tanks you can build

-=[Ranek]=- February 10th, 2007 04:38 PM

Re: Attribute Editor

for the leman russ, go to sbps\races\gaurd\then where ever the leman russ is then go to the requirement_ext then on the list find one saying squad_cap and change the value from 1 to 2 then you get two if you wish to remove the cap either set it to 1000000 or just remove the requirement by clicking th drop down that says squad_cap and click no_requirement or none or something along those lines i cant remeber what it is.

About saving and it not working you need to click save then click save binary, also if you changed the names of all the folders from My_mod you need to go to the pipeline.ini and go down to where you see My_mod and change the names to what you want.

If it doesn't work i sugeest either reinstall or swap to corsix's mod studio which is more or less the same except faster and has less drop downs so you have to manually type the names of certain things in.

Well, first I find it helpful to have Corsix' Mod Studio (Download from: http://www.corsix.org/cdms/). This is a clearer way to mod.

Then, check out the tutorials here for help:

Bloodthirster Edit

Good day.

I recently downloaded the Beta_041b DOW modding thing from Corsix. I'm trying to make it so that I can build more than one Bloodthirster but cant get it working.

I have gone to Attrib/ebps and Attrib/sbps to change the max_squad_cap value in the Requirements list and saved it. When I start playing the game the limit on how many you can build is still 1.

Please help me with this as I'm not familiar with using these tools.

Cheers.

similar problem

I have the same problem as above.

I am trying to expand the overall limit or certain units, (like making the limit of force commanders to 3 rather than one) and i have not been able to find the place to edit this. At the moment i have both DoW mod tools and Corsix's mod tools but i use mainly corsix.

I have looked in both the Attrib\EPBS and Attrib\SPBS and i have not found anything to change the limit in either the .lua files or the .rgd files. Any pointers on where to go would be much appreciated :)

Thanks, Tsukassa:cya::cya:

Question

where in the attribute editor do you go to edit the limit of a certain type of unit you can have? oh and i will be postion simplistic mods on the DOW Files site, so please tell me what you think. (at least i will when i can get my question(s) answered,)

Exiled Eversor October 19th, 2007 12:28 PM

could someone please tell me what in the attribute editor I need to change to add a sergeant to a squad?

and to answer others questions on how to increase a squads cap limit
when you open to attribute editor , you click on squad_blueprints find the squad you want to edit , then on the right side of the screen click on squad_loadout_ext, then trooper base ther you will find the squads unit max and min value that you can edit.

hey guys, could someone point out where im going wrong in my modding coz i've been trying ti pimp out the baneblade amongst other things and some of the changes seem to taking eefect but others not. like the leman-russ upgrades i've made seem to be wrking fine and the heavy bolter ones as well, but i've tryin to make the kasrkin squads so i can have 2 and put more men in the squad but nothing seems to happening. i've changed what i believe to the the appropriate properties in the entity and sqaud bluprints then ssved them and binary saved tham but nothing is happneing. plus i put the BB mega cannon to 3000 damage and 2700 min dmage value but it isnt doing any extar noticable damage :S

Yeah, just use Corsix Mod Studio. Also, if you have a problem (game crashes at loading screen) check the warnings file of the game.

Re: Attribute Editor

1.If you want to change the amount of squad cap the unit is worth you go to
Squad Blueprint>Whatever race your picking>Find the unit>squad_cap ext
expand that and you change it there.

2.The squad cost depends on the minimum amount in a squad. In the squad entity change the cost to what you need to get the amount you want them to cost each. Although this doesn't effect reinforcement costs. The time you also have to add up. Remember the minimum number is whatever you need to times by to get the number you want.

3.The limit change on the amount of squads you can go to the squad blueprint again and look at the "squad requirment" in the requirements section. Change the value to whatever you want. I just changed my terminators to have a limit of 5 :)

4.Remember if your not replacing unit files when creating them remember to link them the link below is fine for looking up how to do this!

http://wiki.relicrank.com/index.phpt...To_Get_Started

5.The adding new descriptors is a right pain in the ass. I wouldn't suggest doing it unless you really want to do it. go to the above website and search it.

I think i've included the best things you can do to your units!

BTW if your using the relic mod tools and you come across the problem of not having anything to select when you load up your mod. DO NOT worry!! press select all and ok. After this wait a long time for it to load up. And you'll be fine.

HAPPY MODDING :cya:

Re: Attribute Editor

The Attribute Editor comes with the DC Mod tools:

DC Mod Tools 1.2 Download, Dawn of War Official

I would recommend CorSix tools over it, however, since it creates the mod for you, operates in much the same way as AE and works well with Soulstorm as well as the other DoW releases:

Corsix's Mod Studio - General
