Converting Mods to a different version? this may have already been asked, but how do u convert a mod form say 1.3 to 1.4 for example, but if its too compliated for me to understand then dont worry bout it, im new to modding so i wouldnt really know? |
Re: Converting Mods to a different version? If you've got the LUA source files, all you need is to read the warnings.log and fix the errors. Sergeants will need changing (you can now have multiples, so there is a table instead of a single entry) but other things that changed like adding bombardment accuracy just need loading into the AE and re-burning. |
Re: Converting Mods to a different version? so u do that to convert a 1.3 mod to work on a 1.4 version of dow? |
Re: Converting Mods to a different version? Mostly, yes. If the mod includes sergeants or orbital bombardments/other abilities that now have accuracy (possibly artillery) then you need to do that, if not then the mod should work on 1.3 and 1.4 anyway (like my UberPainter mod - it just modifies the list of units in the army painter, so it's compatible with both) |
Re: Converting Mods to a different version? i was thinkin of converting the daemonhunters mod to 1.4 but dont re-release it on the internet, coz i seriously want to play it, but i cant coz i hav the GOTY edition which is 1.4, so i cant play it, so i thought i could convert it to work on 1.4 |
Re: Converting Mods to a different version? Just wait for them to release their next version, which will be 1.41 compatable |
Re: Converting Mods to a different version? yeah but thats a while of yet any way I will wait |
Re: Converting Mods to a different version? i dont mean to be impatient but im just gettin pissed off its been round 6 months since the last release im sorry but it just annoys me that they havent made a 1.4 compatible version. unless there is a magic trick to downgrade patches or convert mods to 1.4 in an instant, im gonna be even more pissed if it hits a year and no new release!!! then ill declare my abandonment of the mod and i think they should stop workin on the witchhunters coz there is already a sisters mod that looks better! |
Re: Converting Mods to a different version? You can't downgrade, only install a 1.0 Dawn of War from a non-GotY disk and then patch up to 1.3. If you want to play 1.4 as well as 1.3, you can patch to 1.3 and then copy the whole directory then patch the original up to 1.4, giving you two copies of the game at different versions. Mods can't just be made 1.4 compatible - well, they can be made compatible, but not balanced so easily. Given the choice of a good mod that has been thoroughly tested and checked and is actually worthy of being released, or some half-arsed attempt that was thrown out in a few days because people bitched and moaned, would you really want the buggy half-arsed attempt? |
