more intricate colour schemes

After creating my own banners and badges, I want to paint my army with more elaborate designs than can be provided with the in game army painter. What programs will i need to do this? I have adobe photoshop and image ready if they're any good. I have tried opening the files but nothing recognises them (the TEAMCOLOUR file extensions that is.) Any help?

that is the code for the teamcolours so r=red b=blue g=green you can have a minimum number of 0 and a maximum of 255, the accociated race can be space_marine_race, chaos_marine_race, eldar_race or ork_race, if you copy the code into notepad, and edit it the way you wish, for the appropriate colours(although it is easier to use army painter) then when you save it it should be save as all files and make the name something like ultra.teamcolour and it should work
