Lost Game Files

Last night playing in true Doom fashion i got to the communication level
not a big deal
but
tonight when i went back to play it all my saved games were lost back to Mar City
so i pissed and dont want to put in another couple of hours or so to go through it all again
so how can i get back their without replaying all of the levels again
