Well, making borders is so easy you don't need a tutorial. The simplest border is just a one pixel stroke around the image. Then, we have the tech borders. THose are made using the polygonal lasso and the shift key. Click around the perimeter making a narrow border and make it look interesting by making 45 degree turns. When you finish, invert the selection, create a new layer on top of everything and fill it with a solid color, then apply layer styles, etc.
There are other kinds, but those are not used as widely.

Here's a simple border:

1: Copy the entire sig (merged if you have to)
2: Paste as new layer
3: select all > contract selection by 1
4: Hit del
5: Set layer blend mode to burn

Done
Or if you don't want the border on the edge of the sig

1: select all
2: contract selection by 3
3: Invert selection
4: Contract selection by 1

Done .... This one can be used in conjunction with the method Fragger described above.

Here's a trick to merge your layers without losing them:

Create a new layer on top of everything.
Hit CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+E.
All your layers get merged onto the topmost layer, but the original layers remain as they were.

I need to make green fire flicker and move etc for an image I'm working on. Haven't really played around much with animation and help is appreciated.

Create your fire using a gradient and then the smudge tool. Then, duplicate the layer and use liquify to add little changes. repeat twice, so you have 4 layers and then send it into image ready and animate it into a loop using layers 1,2,3 and 4 as the first frames and then 3,2 and 1 as the last. Adjust it so it's slower or faster.

Animations are nothing but a series of images displayed one after the other in a loop. To better understand animation, you need to visualize what you're animating and come up with a way to show it using different images.

Flashing light

A flashing light can be made with 2 images as follows:

Frame1 = light on
Frame2 = light off

Digital counter

For this, the easiest way to do it is to count from 1 to 0 or from 0 to one.
10 frames are needed, a different digit on each.

Frame1 = Starting digit
Frame10 = Ending digit

These animations can be created by using layers in photoshop and then turning them off and on in imageready.
If all this goes over your head, it's because it's not really something beginners can understand, in which case, you'll need to learn the basics before getting into something advanced as this.
