Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. So here pick the duel and give us an explanation as to why you picked. I picked Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan Vs Darth Maul. I picked this as it was an intense, fast, thrilling and unpredictable 2 v 1. The fight takes us to several places with several twists and turns. The entrance of the double-bladed lightsaber and Maul's true stand to the Jedi make this my most favoured. Maul attends to an apprentice and master with almost ease throughout showing his arrogance at several times. I loved this! P.S, forgive me if I have forgotten any. |
Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. How can it be a duel when it was a threesome? :naughty: =p Anyway, I'm torn between your choice and Obi-Wan vs Anakin (Darth Vader) on Mustafar. Spoiler: |

Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. Either Qui-Gonn and Obi-wan vs Dath Maul, or Obi-wan vs Anakin/Yoda vs Sidious. The Yoda vs Sidious battle was short lived, but Yoda's got some mad moves that are just fun to watch. Not to mention the music accompanying Episode 3's duel was fucking amazing. If I had to pick a duel from the older films, it'd probably be Luke vs Vader in Return of the Jedi. |

Spoiler: I pick Obi-Wan vs Anakin on Mustafar because Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan vs Darth Maul is a threesome, not a duel. Not that I have something against threesomes, but still... =p |
Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. I choose Luke vs Vader in RotJ. The duel in episode 1 with Maul was "cooler", but the RotJ duel showed Luke struggle with the dark side, and lead to the end of Sidious. |

Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. I picked the Duel of the Fates, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon vs. Darth Maul, obviously. It was the very first time we had ever seen Jedi, before the Fall, fighting a Sith as equally or perhaps even more energetic than themselves. It was new, fast-paced, energetic and fresh; and amazingly well done. Oh and the dual-bladed saber? I think everyone jizzed in their pants in the theater. I know I did. |

Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. Luke vs. Vader Episode V. Proof that you don't need flashy CGI to do scenes like that, just good scenery, music, and dialogue. Spoiler: |
Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. Seconded. What it lacks in acrobatics and showy choreography it more than makes up for in its carefully constructed sense of tension and overall significance. Plus it culminates in probably the most epic moments of the series. Don't worry I won't spoil it for those who don't know. =p I'm pretty biased towards ESB in general but still. |

They are my favourite without a doubt. The duel of fates was just mental, the music alone is mad. Plus Everyone thinks Darth Maul is cool. The Duel on Mustafar is just intense, you're not sure whats going to happen, Vaders injuries had been assumed to be by Obi-Wan but we really had no idea. Quote:
Yes he used his anger but he never touched the Dark Side, if he did he wouldn't of came back so easily. His lightsaber style was still derived from Soresu as he was still playing defensively as shown when he cut Maul's lightsaber. Quote:

Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. I think the duel between Obi-Wan and Grevius was interesting to watch. |
Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. I don't know how many Jedi Grievous killed, but for someone who took pride and joy in killing Jedi (with the aid of Dooku's training) and collecting their Lightsabers, he lost the battle against Obi-Wan far too quickly and easily, if you ask me. |
Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. :agreed Especially when you consider that Grievous had been able to fight off Mace Windu, Shaak Tii and another 2 Jedi (can't think who) simultaneously and even injure a couple of them taking no damage himself. Obi-Wan may of been one of the greatest Jedi knights of his time but not even his master of Soresu should of been able to beat Grievous, especially not that fast. |
Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. maybe Grievous was just cocky and overconfident. That could have messed him up. |
Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. Regardless of his cockiness or the lack of it, four Lightsabers against one, combined with that fanning + simultaneously moving forward attack should have given Obi-Wan much harder time than it did. If anyone was cocky, it was Obi-Wan. He just jumped from above in the middle of the group of battle droids behind Grievous and said "hello there", like "oh hai there my old friend, long time no see". =p Instead of waiting for his clones to arrive, he went in alone with no backup. And you say Grievous was cocky. =p |
Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. My second theory is that the duel wouldn't have been as good if it didn't happen or Obi got hurt or dead |
Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. The only thing I can think of is Obi-Wan's preferred lightsaber form is defensive, Grievous is clearly an aggresive character and duelist, perhaps why he was able to hold off Mace Windu. Obi-Wan was one of the people who hought that the best form of attack is defence. Looks like it worked in this case. |
Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. i suppose I should vote... oh decision between yoda vs dooko and Windo vs sidious |
Re: Your favourite duel from Episode I-VI. Obi Wan vs Darth Vader (Episode III) without a doubt. It's pretty THE fight of the entire series, the one everyone was waiting for for years. It's an intense scene that defines the entire rest of the series, and is the culmination of 12 years of development for Anakin and his relationship with Obi Wan. The scenery is also incredible. |
