Help me understand this... In Empire Strikes Back, Obi-Wan tells Luke to see Yoda, the Jedi who trained Obi-Wan, according to Obi-Wan. But in Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon Jinn is obviously Obi-Wan's master, and Yoda is just the Grand Master, not directly training Obi-Wan. Reminds me of this: YouTube - Star Wars V: Empire Strikes Back Extended Scene My question is, why do people insist that Obi-Wan was correct, even though he really wasn't? |
Re: Help me understand this... Because he was correct in 1980, and all the way up until 1999. Then Lucas decided to disregard most of his earlier work, which makes it look as though Obi-Wan is either; A) A lying old bastard. or B) A senile old bastard. |
Re: Help me understand this... Perhaps Yoda trained Obi-Wan when he was a child; just one of the Younglings, like that group of children Yoda trains in Episode 2. When Obi-Wan matured enough, he was assigned to Qui-Gon to continue his training. I'm not sure if all this is true, but it would be the most logical thing. :clueless: |
Re: Help me understand this... According to Wookieepedia, The Tricorder is correct =p Obi-Wan Kenobi - Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki |
Re: Help me understand this... But didn't Yoda 'train' Obi-Wan to hear Qui-Gon again at the end of Episode III? So technically, from a certain point of view (=p), he's not lying, or senile. |
