Oh wait, just remembered, in KOTOR, in one of the temples on Korriban, there is a Sith that was a ghost or w/e. So yes, Qui-Gon didn't create it.

No one created it. In the mythos, a Force user can "return from the nether realm of the Force". It is a technique that was lost in ancient times, but rediscovered by Qui-Gon Jinn. It may have something to do with the ideals of the Living Force.

Ultimately however, it was Qui-Gon who officially found out how to do it.
It's G-Level canon (the highest level of SW canonicity, G for George), which means that nobody before hand ever actually became a Force Ghost..... F U very much George, F U!

It was accurate until 2005.... Then "good ol' GL" changed everything again.

After that, every single occurance of any Force spirits of fallen Jedi technically didn't happen.

I've wondered about these "Star Wars" ghosts. Why didn't more Jedi appear to Luke? Obi-Wan (or Yoda?) specifically said, "Old friends, long gone".

I've been wondering about that,...

I share a similar view to yourself - my comments about "re discovering" the method, but unfortunately Qui-Gon is the first known Jedi to be able to do it, within the films.
I know that leaves it open for alternative takes on it, but it's been "set in stone" that he was the first.

As a result, everything that's not in the films and contradicts it, is therefore wrong..... talk about lameness.

Which means they'll either leave things as they are, or retcon everything else in some way that fits the film..... yet more lameness on behalf of someone who's own "vision" was distorted by themself.......

Just means that George wants to have final say in anything that anyone pulls into other media that was done in movie first.

Darth titles, Jedi blade colors, light side this, dark side that, the size of Admiral Ackbar's nostrils, the skimpiness of Leia's dress, the fatness of Jabba's tongue, etc. etc.
