| good tactic sm vs tau (in the beginning mainly and its probably ot anything new) build a squad of assault marines and one of normal marines, pray that they tau go for fire warriors and commander, if they do, as soon as you see them, jump you assault squad behind the fire warriors and lock them in close combat, move your tactical marines forward to wipe them out. then go for commander. good tactic chaos vs imp, something i noticed as a good guard player was the lack of movement that entrenched troops have, if your vs a guard player that has basically turreted his base and set up mainly heavy weapon squads and basilisks, fill your infantry cap with horrors (they work surprisingly well vs most gaurd units) just fill your vehicle cap with defilers, set them at ranged stance hold ground, now... get a unit with good sight such as hell talon, (sadly will take up some precious vehicle cap) and inch your way forward, as soon as the talon gets sight of the guard, stop it outside the range of there units, inch your defilers up until the battle cannons start laying waste. if they start using there basilisks, summon a squad of horrors as far close to the seight of your detector unit, and if you then can, spawn all your horrors to destroy the basilisks, followe by there turrets, for the main part you can ingore there other tanks as the defilers can clear hem out easily, if they have a bane blade, just follow the same procedure several times till you either start pushing them back or destroy their defenses, then you just inch your way and start bombarding the baneblade and droping horros as soon as they are created, this is a time and requsition/power consuming tactic but works pretty well, the key is to not stop so they cant lay down as may defenses. your screwed though if you run out of resources. necron strategy, start off by building a summoning core very first thing!, well start it, keep the first scarab squad working on it, and build another 2 scarab squads. now at any time during this, build your first generator, have the new scaraps start working on the generator, if you finish the generator before the core, build a second generator. once your 2nd scarab squad is done, build 1 warrior squad, as soon as the summoning core is done research the necron warrior boosting ability (name escapes me at the moment) now, as soon as your warior squad is done give it another member to bring it to four, and if you finish the 2nd generator start building a 3rd. now build another scarap squad and set it to start capping your nearist points, leave all the other to build generators, build a 2nd squad of warriors and give it another member. as soon as the research is complete, you have a good strong start, wither for rushing or for defending, usually 2 squads of warriors with the upgrade can hold my base against anything for the first teir up or in 1on1 games for rushing, this tactic takes me 1-2 mins to finish, up to the first squad of warriors with upgrade.once all is setup, you can mold the rest to what ever strategy you see best, this is a great way to start a round though! (2 squads of warriors with upgrade can take one any commander at teir 1, just keep reinforcing them if the enemy shows up ^^ except if you get rushed by orks, then in my case, its over XD). Hope this help someone! |

| Good tactics apart one the one of ig vs chaos who says that I don't rush or that I don't kill him before t2 or that I Use chaos sm filled with heavy bolters and I fill them of deaths? ![]() And the one of sm vs tau you should have in total about 2000 resources for the overall project because you need to make the arsenal and power up assault marines then maybe make 1 or 2 scouts to conquer points what do you say about this ha? And right because you need 200 you must have may be at least 2 scouts! ![]() I am really having difficulties with chaos (my main army) Trying to make a 1v1 in tk could u help me? I always try to do like this: 2 cultists lord of chaos and after the arsenal +1 generator I immediately go to t2 after in 1 sec With two heretics I go to do the sacrificial circle and go to t3 whilst I do ! chaos space marine troop but at that point I am killed. Plz help me and reply with what I do wrong and what i do right and what I don't do at all. Thx Nightbringer |

| Hey guys I'm trying to progress a lot in 1v1 but I still find something which I have problems with.....I decided to have as main armies sm and necrons! No problems with necrons apart that I find it difficult to arrive at t2 and get the immortals. But with sm I'm improving continuously but I find it difficult to run immediately at t2 and take 4 land speeders. Can you help me please? |

| This thread may be a bit old but this strategy worked so well for me. I was playing as the Tau Empire and my enemy was the Orks. I was playing a skirmish game on the first difficulty up from normal, and it was just me as Tau and 3 enemy Ork armies. I notice that there were a lot of Orks gathering at this strategic point near my base. That's when I came up with the plan. I had my Ethereal create a clone of my Greater Knarloc and I sent both the clone and the original in to the mob of Orks. While they all rushed the Knarlocs and got in a nice little bunch for me. I sent in 4 Skyrays and had them all use the missle barrage in the center of the Orks. That took out nearly 3/4 of them. I then sent in 4 Barracudas to both provide cover fire and take out the ranged Orks that weren't taking part in the melee of the battle. After that I sent in about 3 XV88 Battlesuits and had them take position in front of the Skyrays. Then I had 5 Fire Warrior squads and 2 Pathfinder squads come up behind the Skyrays. When most had been killed I sent in 3 Stealthsuit squads to hunt down the stragglers. I know this will almost always work for fighting the AI but it could work online agaisnt someone else. I can't really test it because, as everyone on Filefront might know, I can't play any games online because of my weird internet connection. So why do you think of my stragety?

| you sure your connectivity isn't just a port forward issue? That said - tier 4 against 3 orks. The actual net result would be. 3 squads of ported flash gitz alongside with 3 squads of juiced flashgitz. If I remember correctly they were joinable. So basically you'd die. Against t4 orks if there's one thing I'd not go down as TAU it's massive power output to support a harbringer. Also avoiding any more open areas. Tau are the best ranged army, use that to an advantage and always just always be ready to run when you see a juiced mad dok amongst ork boyz getting too close to your army. Quote:
The moment any player beyond 1200 sees you going for a low end map control, you've got gen trashers in your base at once. Killing gens and builders. You might get to t2 and get a landspeeder out and do so before your opponent hits t2 himself. But it won't give you enough time to regain map control as your opponent wins the moment he himself hits t2 and puts out any AV unit. Because you won't have anything to stop those with as your t1 AI force will most likely be nonexistant. |

| I usually go for map control and harass with raptors (since I'm a Chaos player), while doing so I tech up to 'zerkers and the rest is history.
