whats up,newbie here.Im having a major problem with mods and maps.I down load them from a sight and they go to my temp internet files in a zipped folder. The file for my WH40k DoW DC does not have a mods or maps folder so i have to make one.I unzip the folder and put it in the proper maps or mods catagory where it belongs. When i go to play the game the maps or mods are not there. Can some one tell me what im doing wrong please,im also a bit PC literate so explain it in laymens terms for me please. thank you for the help |

| first I recommend you read readmes inside of those zip folders . They usually tend to have instructions. Otherwise maps usually go into DXP\data\scenarios\mp if I remember correctly. |

| Hi 3-sum Getting started with mods and maps can be confusing, and it doesn't make it any easier that not all the instructions you read are right! I'm one of the culprits, having made mistakes in the installers for some of the maps I have developed. Junk Angel has given you some good input, but let me add on to it: The main folder needs to be “DXP2”, and the following need to keep the correct capitalization. Here is what the folderpath for maps should look like in the end: “THQ\Dawn of War - Dark Crusade\DXP2\Data\Scenarios\MP” Mods go directly into the Dark Crusade folder, with both a *.module file and the corresponding mod folder. To run a mod, on the first screen you see when the game starts there is a “Game Manager” that will let you select the mod you want to run. I hope it works out, and let us know if you run into any other problems. Welcome to the DoW community!

Also wahat exactly is the file trail for the mods?I made a file called mods,is that OK and will it work? Some,or most of the mods dont have readme's either, how do you know if there active or not(the ones with out a readme)? | Glad you were able to make some progress, there, 3-sum. The little picture that you see during setup, and the slightly larger mini map image that is in your lower left screen during gameplay are two separate files that should have been included with the maps you downloaded. Sometimes the map developer will have not made them at all, and then you are out of luck. The game setup screen will be blank, but a green mini-map will be generated so you have at least something ingame. But if they did make them and they came with the download, they will show up like this: WhatEverMapName_icon.tga WhatEverMapName_mm.tga These need to be placed in the same "MP" folder with the rest of the map files, and then they should work. Mods need to be placed directly in the Dark Crusade folder. Every mod will have it's own folder, for instance the Tyranids mod filepath looks like this: \THQ\Dawn of War - Dark Crusade\Tyranids\Data There must be a module file that makes the mod possible to activate, in this case it would be called Tyranids.module And it must be located in the Dark Crusade directory, not in any of the subfolders. The mod that I'm using as an example (which happens to be one of my favoriates) actually uses an installer which makes it really easy. If you have the disk space, I would recommend downloading and running it, even if just to see how a proper mod looks when installed. It is found at: Tyranid Mod (0.45DC), Dawn of War Downloads, Dawn of War Full Race

one of these will be called mapname_icon.tga. This one file has to go into the core map directory as opposed to the rest of the files. There's basically two ways of storing the maps. a) what most people do, and what's just ugly :P installlocation\dxp2\data\scenarios\mp - all of the map files dumped here (there's about 4 or 5) b)The prettier method which keeps your map directory far cleaner. installlocation\dxp2\data\scenarios\mp\mapname So with this method you put all the map files save for the _icon.tga into their own folder. Then this folder and the _icon.tga go into the mp directory. |

| Thx, Junk Angel, I didn't know that could be done but it does help clean up nasty long lists of maps. Good suggestion! I should do that for my next installer I'm working on.

| I thought that I had successfully installed the FoK 3.5 mod, but when I tried to play the tutorial, I got a "Fatal Scar Error, Execution Paused." What's going on? |

| Please instead of multiposting in short order, use the Also could you provide links to the files you are having problems with. Alongside your dow version. The damaged - it can sometimes happen when downloading an archive. Generally redownloading said file fixes the problem |
