icon_question Opinions on most powerful anti-infantry squads?

I've been having this discussion with a group of guys that I play DC with. If you had to pick, what unit (infantry, vehicle, unique(ie monstrous) is the most effective against enemy infantry. This includes something along the lines of a squad with a commander attached to it.

I seem to have the most luck with an Eldar Farseer attached to a Seer Council. With the Seer Council's regenerative rate increases for special abilities and fairly strong melee ability, the Farseer seems to be able to pretty well wipe opposing units out fairly quickly with the myriad of abilities she has at her disposal. I'm curious to see other people's ideas on this question for the sake of getting a bit more broadness to perspective.

Isn't it obvious? :P Firewarrior mass with range upgrades.
Highest range, brutal DPS, not expensive, survivable.

Is that with one Shas'La and one shield drone or 2 Shas'La? I usually do the 1&1 combo to keep them alive a little longer. Seems to work for me.

Context does play a part. I would like to have some stormboys with a Nob leader when those Fire Warriors show up! For about anything you have there seems to be a counter of some kind. Having the right ones at the right time is what makes the game always a challenge.

I would agree, though, that fully upgraded Fire Warriors are incredibly powerful when you can keep them firing. My own personal favorite for mowing down infantry is an IG Heavy Weapons Teams with the AutoCannon. Their range is great, damage considerable, and they never engage in Melee. Yeah they are slow, not survivable, and at a cost of two squad points the Fire Warriors are definitly a better bargan. Although I sure wouldn't pit either one against your Seer Council squad and Farseer!

A close runner up would be the IG Command Squad with one Priest and 3 Psychers. The Priest's "Fanatisism" can protect the squad through the Farseer's Psychic storm with no damage. After 3 "Strip Souls" the Farseer goes down, and there are three "Lightning Arcs" to severely weaken the remaining Council Members. If the IG commander then calls down Orbital Bombardment on everone, the Command Squad would survive (barely) but the Eldar would be all but gone. I'm only guessing at this, though, not having actually tried this encounter! FYI, Orky Olympics is a scenario that tests your ability to predict the outsome of individual squads or units against each other.

Will have to check out Orky Olympics. Sounds like my kind of thing. I agree, the impguard have a pretty solid anti-infantry tactic, but was looking more for 'general' infantry decimation, not against specific squad cap. Still, that's the type of response I love, someone who's thought out the angles. Keep 'em coming!
