SM vs war of the worlds

hey there ppl i was talking to my friend and i thought what would happened if the SM were attacked by the aliens from war of the worlds. I think the SM would win cause unlike missles and all they got plasma and lascannons.

If they attack imperial guard the aliens would lose badly but the sm will lose thats for sure

I would love to see the aliens advancing against Tau. Pulse rifles and fusion blasters firing everywhere. They would have no chance!

And perhaps the poll would be better if it asked "Which 40K race would have greater results against the aliens from war of the worlds".

well, first off, damn there are a lot of this type of polls floating around, and, well, a plasma cannon, or lascannon shot would probably do something, but crucaially the armour would have no effect against the wierd ray-things (there's a pop, flash, and tactical squad jilhranae is dust and a pile of armour)
so the fact thatr there are very few marines woulod have an impact, as they would have the same survivability as a guardsman in that situation, so it would all depend on how many of the tripods there are, and we have no idea how an energy weapon would work on there shields, could be anti-ballistic and provide no defence, or it could stop it easily. hell, it could power it up to have energy hit it lol

as for space marines, if they're the book ones definitely, and the film ones probably

I agree with warmaster dan the troops of grandfather nurgle would win hands down remember in the book the aliens were destroyed by sickness, how would they cope with the multitude of plagues carried by nurgle's servants?

as to the poll i think that the space marines would definitely kick there xeno butts

Well it depends.
Are their shields as strong as Void shields or weaker?

Also, the ECM in the movie was stupid, since almost all important electronics today are strongly shielded, and could survive and ECM resulting from a nuke.
