Counter-Strike Source: hl2.exe - Application Error

I just got my computer reformatted. So i had to install hl2 and Counter-Strike source again. Now everytime i start up hl2 or counter-strike source an error pops up and says:

The instruction at "0x222362ad" referenced memory at "0x0d5d61b0". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to rerminate the program


Could someone help me with this problem and give me a solution.

this happened to me before. try reinstall it. and if you have a firewalland antivirus, try and turn it off when you start it up. if that dont work then sorry man i dont know.

I'm having the same problem with exactly the same error message (even the 0x0xxxxxx variables are the same) and I am going nuts trying to fix it.

Have you found a fix yet Mental? Ive been working at it for a week and havent found a thing that works.

I have the exact same damn problem. I reformatted my harddrive now its impossible to get in to counter strike. Have any of you managed to fix this problem, its driving me crazy.
Is there anyone there who can help me?

I would suggest going on the Valve (Steam Support forums) http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/

Then try asking your question, they should be able to resolve your problem and suggest or have you do something to fix this problem.

Hi im new to the whole forum and I just got my CS:Source Cd game with hl2 deathmach, day of defeat source but when I try running the setup the error pops out its called Error 1317
IDK what to do I want to play this fucking game

When i open cs i go to Find Servers,and to Favorites and i open map (zombie mod)...He loaded and loaded and when he finished its says:__WARNING:couldn't open de_vegas.wad
Can someone help me or i reinstall it? Thanks

Hey, ive found this fix, it worked for me, i hope it works for you

1. Right click on your game in steam
2. Click "properties"
3. Click "set launch options"
4. enter the cmd "-dxlevel 81" (without ")
5. click "ok" and close properties
6. launch the game
7. if the game is not working properly try the cmd "-dxlevel 70"

I use -dxlevel 70 myself, as my acer laptop doesnt support -dxlevel 80. Please note -dxlevel 70 users that theres some servers you cant join. I recommend setting all the model and texture graphics to low and update to the DirectX10 for XP if u havent done. (It can be downloaded here Deposit Files )

on ok to terminate the program
