If you try, it simply won't work. Tales of Valor is the latest expansion, however it isn't the latest game version. ToV would have brought your game up to v2.500, but you still have to patch your game up to the latest version which is v2.601.
Good mods that come to mind are Battle of the Bulge, Eastern Front, Blitzkrieg, Cross of Iron, Back to Basics: Battle of the Hedges, and Normandy 44. All of these are compatible with v2.601, and may not work with earlier versions of the game (so be sure to patch your game up!).
Just like mods, many maps will only run on the game version they were made with, so there is a good chance that older maps won't work, especially those that use scripting. I advise you to avoid places like Filefront's CoH Files site, as they host many old maps and mods, and usually don't mention what version of the game the files are for. Try looking for mods at ModDB, and mods and maps at sites like the RelicNews CoH forums. |
