Default Geschutzwagen vs Stug IV?

I've been wondering which tank is better. The Assault Gun Stug IV or the Anti-Tank Gun Geschutzwagen?

The Stug costs 340. Its fast to build and well its turretless. It has better armor but its short of range. No Machine Gun at first but with 3rd veterancy you get the MG. Assuming that you are in 3rd veterancy you would already have Tier 4. So much for the MG... Plus veterancy is costly. Its Fast yet it kinda tries hard to slow down.

The Geshutzwagen costs 280. It takes a looong time to build. You can increase that time by having an officer supervise the Depot. It has little resistance against anything that would work against tanks.Makes it up for a superb range. I can see the enemy before it sees me. Its like a cheap Flak 88. It has an MG readily available. Great for rushes but very risky.

However since both have the ordeal of being turretless, kind of slow and weak. I can't decide which is better. Does depend in what tactic your're using? Or should you just replace the Stug IV.

Actually the StuG IV gets the roff-top MG42 at vet 2, and armoured skirts are vet 3 (which gives it better resistance to bazooka, recoiless rifle rounds, stickies, etc.). In my opinion i reckon the StuG IV is better as it has better armour and benefits from the skirts, which makes it's sides about as tough against infantry AT as the front is. It's faster build time is a bonus, and it's not too bad against shooting at infantry. On the other hand the G-Wagen has armour so weak concentrated rifle fire or an M1917's AP rounds will tear it up, it takes so long to build due to a bug with it's MG, and it's main gun has a slower reload time. It's only saving graces are it being about 60mp cheaper, having better range, and the rapid fire ability wich it totally overpowered once the vehicle gets vet.I'm sticking with the tried and tested StuG IV, the workhorse of my Wehrmacht.

Whoops. Sorry bout the Stug's Vet. Anyways, yeah I like the Stug IV. I use often than not but there's something about the Geschutzwagen. The Stug is a good support but its damage against armor is fairly weak. The Geschutzwagen on the other hand has 8 for heavy armor, 8 for light vehicles. Top it off with Rapid fire and some pioneers. Both tanks can be used for flanking and ambushes. Still which is better?

You can't believe the stats displayed next to the kill counter on teh Taskbar, their wrong for most units in the game, and it's doubtful Relic will ever fix that. Personally i prefer the StuG IV as it's actually resistant to small arms fire, infantry AT (once it has the Skirts), and generally has much better armour all around. Plus it's faster to replace losses than the G-wagen.

I actually prefer the Geschutzwagen. The Geschutzwagen is great for defensive roles, although i prefer the Pak 38 for that. It's long range makes it ideal for taking out Shermans, Cromwells and Fireflies. And since I always have an officer around my Geschutzwagens are pretty fast buildable when the Sturm Armory is supervised.

Well 8 is 8. Evidently its correct, look at a battle between a Geschutzwagen and a Sherman Firefly. Unfortunately the Geschutzwagen lost, (without a spotter or infantry) but it doesn't matter, what matters is that the Firefly's life was down to a half with two shots. The Stug even at 3rd veterancy would have trouble dealing with those flies. Paks are great but they are however manned by exposed infantry, less mobile and more susceptible to fire. (after a few shots in camo they would expose themselves... then they die or run away.) I just use them in scattered formation so no howitzer or whatever bombardent they throw at them only few will take losses.
