I have the same problem except I can connect to some games on Company of Heroes Online (about 10% - 20% of them). The rest have red Xs on the ping and same error "NAT negotiation failure...lists names of people I couldnt connect". I forwarded ports 6112,9100,30260,30261,6113 and 9101. I followed the instructions on portforward.com and set up a static IP address for my computer. My router is Linksys WGR614 v.6 and I have a quite decent connection. On Speakeasy, my Speed test shows 12624 kbps download speed and 1614kbps upload speed, so it shouldnt be my internet connection. I dont think its my provider since I can join some games (I am using COMCAST). By the way I live in USA and its not the distance either. Sometimes I cant connect to people who live in the United States. These people though can connect to other people with no problem so its not their connection.....its weird. Please help.

Alright, I figured that the problem is my router (sorry its actually NetGear WGR612v6 not Linksys). I connected directly to the modem and I can access to about 50-60% of the games which is not so bad. However, with the router I cannot access most of the games in COH. I disabled the SPI firewall, Turned on Upnp, port forwarded the necessary ports still no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I've played a lot of games with my friends before we took a 1-3 monthes break. Now when we're back they also get a "NAT negotiation failed" problem which we've met before.

Seems like it's a Relic problem.

Any help would be appreciated!

Well, after much suffering, I figured it out and it works perfectly fine (even when my computer gets its internet connection through another computer). What I did was: Updated my Firmware for my router (important!) this pretty much solved the problem of me getting the NAT negotiation error. Also I went to the firewall settings (advanced firewall not plain firewall, you go to control panel, administrative tools, Windows Firewall) and made sure that all necessary ports are forwarded (30260 and 6112) same with the router. And it worked. So try updating the firmware of your router to the latest version. By the way, I have Vista Bussiness.

This worked for NetGear WGR614 v6

Hope that helps.

exclaim Re: NAT negotiation

For the longest time I had the NAT negotiation error pop up for 70% of my attempts to play a multiplayer match up in Company of Heroes. IT was very fustrating and I tried to find the solution on ever forum on the planet but I had no luck in solve my issue. The same issue popped up with Dawn of War II so I was about to freak out because both my favorite game and the one I have been looking forward to most caused my computer to not connect with other in multiplayer. Last night, in my desperate attempt to try everything I could think of, I found the solution; update your Ethernet (or wireless) card drivers.

That is right, you may not to worry about port forward and all that mess, old drivers was all the problem was.

So try to update your driver and hopefully this simple solution will work for you as well. If it does work, I would love to know.

i've heard of the dawn of war 2 giving problems with nat negotiation. In both instances if played through the steam environment try right click on the steam quicklaunch icon , settings and ensure that your account is not signed up for that particular games beta.
