Well, since we're talking about generations, and assuming you're from what's known as either the "X" or "Y" generation, I can safely say that I didn't ignore MY 3 children. They're all fairly well-adjusted, happily married, productive members of society living near their mother and father with the requisite 2 children each. In addition, two of my daughters own their own businesses and the third is a mechanical engineer for Boeing. So much for my children.

As for me being a so-called slacker, I doubt that label fits me in an way whatsoever. While you were still shitting your pants, I was in uniform serving in fun places like Viet Nam, South Korea, Okinawa, West Germany. In fact, in my 20 years of service, I spent 9 years overseas in defense of the United States and its allies. And after I retired from the Army I went on with my slacking ways to work at Microsoft to help bring into the world such slacking products as Basic Compiler 6.0, 7.0, Visual Basic 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0, Visual Basic for Applications (found in all Microsoft Office products, Access, Excel, Word, Project, Outlook, etc), JScript, VBScript, Internet Explorer 5 and 6.

So don't you ever, ever call ME a slacker you insignificant twit.

but this was in 1944, the word sucks was used by any english speaking country,
the germans had been all over europe by then fighting the US, canada and the brits for over 4 years. so they've probably picked it up somewhere.(thats alot of thought over something they say in a game, haha)
