Installing mods

Hi folks,

Now firstly I realise there are probably 101 topics similar to this, most of them are just noob questions asking about how to start making mods etc etc. Whilst I am a noob at CoH, I'm also experienced at modding a heap of games, the most recent being the Star Wars Empire at War/Forces of Corruption series.

Anyway so I downloaded the invincible allies mod and install as directed, use the shortcut to launch the game, but nothing changes. This might be due to the fact that every time I start my game, it wants disc authentication, and so might be running off the disc exe rather than using the shortcut I want it to.

Moving right along I figured that the next best way was to take the 'dataAttrib' folder, copy it, and place it the CoH directory - this still has no result. This could be due to my installing CoH in a non-default location which has had the previous effect of preventing the manual install of patches as they couldn't find the game

Currently however my game is patched to v2.something (the latest patch that seems to be compatible with OF as well).

If someone could point out my obvious error or otherwise let me know where I'm going wrong, it would be greatly appreciated.

You should do like me (I have given up with makeing a shortcut) and download CoH-launcher...

It's easy to go to a mod with it. Just change the module to the mod you would like.. ( in this pic you would change the Company of Heroes (RelicCOH module to whatever else you would like)

You install it by set it in to your CoH directory and make a shortcut to your deskup....

Update: didn't work. I really don't understand what I'm doing wrong...

Alright I figured out it's because I'm running patch 2.3, which doesn't allow mods. I did find a program that allows it, but its only allowing the 'heavy tanks' mod but not the 'invincible allies' mod...

well the latest patch is v2.301, which allows mods and .sgb maps.

Alright I found patch 2.301, and the mod STILL doesn't work - not with the modified shortcut, not with the CoH launcher.

have you set the CoH-launcher to -dev mode?

Yep, I selected the 'Allies' module and selected -dev mode, but I'm still not seeing any change.

Is the mod for OF? Really all you should have to do is paste the mod's folder and .module file into your CoH directory, then make a copy of your shortcut and modify the Target with -dev -modname (modname here), so it reads something like this;

"C:\Program Files\THQ\Company Of Heroes\RelicCOH.exe" -dev -modname Bobs_mod
