Default COD4 Demo (iw3sp.exe) - video issue

Hi-

first, my brief specs:

Intel Q6600
GEForce 880GTS 320MB w/ latest drivers from the card manufacturer (XFX)
2GB 800MHz RAM
Dell 2405FPW @ 1680x1050, 60Hz

When I try to run the demo, the screen resizes, blanks, and then drops me back to the desktop. The demo keeps running (I can hear the audio running just fine) but I cannot alt-tab/open the game. Each time I try the screen resizes and drops me back to the desktop.

I can kill the program via the Task Mgr. When I open it again the same thing happens. When I open it in Safe Mode I get essentially the same thing, without the initial screen resize.

I'm thinking the default resolution is causing some issues but that's just a guess. Any help would be appreciated!

You system can defiantly handle it. Try changing you desktop res to something lower or launch the game in windowed mode.

Also, is this a boxed copy or off of STEAM?

This is a copy of the demo I downloaded from Yahoo! Games. Not sure how to open it in windowed mode but I'll try running it at a lower resolution.

I figured it out. I had Folding@Home running and it was messing it all up. Ran DXDiag and it kept stopping the Direct3D tests with some sort of phantom keystrokes. Tests would be canceled due to keypress but I didn't press anything. Did a little process of elimination and that was the culprit, it seems.
