joining servers

this has happened to me a couple times now and the only way i've found to fix it is unistall and reinstall it when i try to join any server nothing happens i can just click and nothing it stays on the server list and then sometimes it will say pb needs to be activated and when i do my game shuts down anyone else have this prob or know how to fix it without reinstalling cause i have the 6 disc cd not dvd and thats a real pain in the ass thanx

this has also been happening to me lately. cod2 has been acting weird as of late, and i didnt add patch dl and mods or anything. if i try to enable pb in my options the game crashes and a dx9 unrecoverable error comes up. i uninstalled and reinstalled dx9 and it still happens. ive been playing this game since it came out but im about to call it quits because of all the problems with it lately

Do you use XFire? XFire recently had an upgrade that messed with DX drivers. Lots of people are having problems since XFire updated itself.

Solution a number of people have said worked: uninstall XFire.

Mine has been doing this also, the first time i changed it it worked fine, i went to change it today and the game closed down

any help would be greatly appreciated

if you do run xfire you should never run it when playing cod2 i just find it makes me lag/crash or i get the awaiting connection crap

i see u have the punkbuster problem

how we can fix it

maybe i think i have the solution i'ts work for me

1. Go to C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\main\players\(your profile name)\config_mp.cfg

open with workpad and search the line

seta cl_punkbuster "0" so change to 1
seta cl_punkbuster "1" i think that will work
