Can't play COD2

While I was re-installing COD2, I had to leave in a hurry and canceled out of the installation. When I had more time and I went back to re-install it, the opening screen said that it was already installed, even though I knew it wasn't. So when you click play multiplayer or single player it won't let you play, and when I click the uninstall button something pops up very fast and disappears, then nothing happenes and I can't play the game. If anyone can help me I would very much appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

use add/remove programs to uninstall it.

After its uninstalled, go to Program Files and make sure the Activision folder is deleted. If its still there, delete it.

then reinstall it.

Re: Can't play COD2

I am wondering if you need a web page to run cod2 so people can download files from you? I am on a router, and I have it setup in the cfg, and I put my mods and stuff in main. I get to part where people see my server online. they try to connect, and it hangs or says server disconnects. I see it trying to download from http://24.My ip. I wven see some red. but it disconnects. I tried everything. I even tried to take out the http:// cause I dont have a webpage.

How canm I get them to download custom maps and mods from the server I run from my home.?
Thanks

I'm sorry, I should have mentioned the first time that I have already checked the control panel and program files and their is nothing cod2 to be found. I hope that narrows the serch for an answer to my problem down a bit, thanks again.

Re: Can't play COD2

then you must have a registry entry for it, for it to tell you its already installed.

Go to start > run > regedit

This brings up the registry editor. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and expand the directory tree by click its 'x'.

Go to SOFTWARE, and see if there is a folder for ACTIVISION. Expand it by clicking the 'x', and see if there is an entry for Call of Duty 2.

If there is, right click its folder, and left click delete.

Close and that would have removed it.

Now you should be able to reinstall.
