The principles are the same, yes. The regfile will need adjusting to suit COD2 install. Best thing to do is, if you havent uninstalled yet, back up your registry details for COD2. Got to start > run. Type in regedit. When the registry editor is up, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Find SOFTWARE. Find the Activision folder and open it. Find the Call of Duty 2 folder and open it. At the top left of Reg editor, click on File > export. Save the file to a destination of your choice.

what if i deleted the ACtivision folder in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE already?

Follow the instructions in the original post, adjusting the details as you go. You only really have to enter your CD key and install path.

Ok it worked! Just one problem! I cant install the patch cuz it uses Install SHield(lol) so is there a way to manually install the patch?

Yeah, I got the patch in Rar format - no need to install it. Let me upload it to my webspace.

do u mean myspace? or are u gonna post it here? and the patch ur giving me is 1.3 right? AND FINNALY when i installed COD2, i noticed that both multiplayer and singleplayer were 1.0, will just the 1.3 patch bring me totally up to date?

You dont install this patch. Its in extracted form. Its just Rared up (compressed). You just open the file with WinRar, and then add the files and folders to COD2 1.0.

This will bring MP up to 1.3 but you will need to edit the registry entry 'version' to reflect that fact.
