Join Date: November 19th, 2004 Location: London, UK Status: Available Rep Power: 27 | Re: skins and mods in MP as far as I know you cannot have a 'non-standard' server-side only skin - there must be a client-side download as well. this is bacause the client pc cannot view images which only the server has. this was learnt the hard way when we were working on the German Front mod.
You can change skins server-side, but these would only be the range of skins as part of the game - that is, part of the 'soldiervariations'. these are changed via the gsc script files. For example, you can change the american 'ranger' skin to 'airbourne', or the axis' 'wehrmacht' to 'fallschirmjaeger'.
But if there is a new, non-standard skin, then this has to be client-side as well, otherwise the models are invisible to every player, and the players first-person view sees a white uniform. |
