skins and mods in MP
 
hey all,

i need some help getting skins and mods to work in MP, even on 'un-pure' servers i need help in what to do. All the skins i have downloaded are in their correct folders and i dont know whats wrong.
Any help?

The server your joining(un-pure) must have the same mods and skins installed :)

#3 no you are wrong, on an un-pure server the skins are client side like in counter strike. In a pure server with custom skin, everyone see the skin.

as far as I know you cannot have a 'non-standard' server-side only skin - there must be a client-side download as well. this is bacause the client pc cannot view images which only the server has. this was learnt the hard way when we were working on the German Front mod.

You can change skins server-side, but these would only be the range of skins as part of the game - that is, part of the 'soldiervariations'. these are changed via the gsc script files. For example, you can change the american 'ranger' skin to 'airbourne', or the axis' 'wehrmacht' to 'fallschirmjaeger'.

But if there is a new, non-standard skin, then this has to be client-side as well, otherwise the models are invisible to every player, and the players first-person view sees a white uniform.
