Pinging problems I use ASE as a game server browser and when i scan servers it shows me having a normal ping of roughly 50-ish but when i actually enter the game... it gives me a 999 ping... anyone know why this is happening and if there is a fix for it? Thanks in advance |
Re: Pinging problems Your error could be due to a number of factors: 1. Router lagging you. If you use a router, try connecting without (i.e. DSL modem or something). 2. Punkbuster lagging you. Perform a manual update. Go here: http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=updatepb.php Look on that page and find pbweb.exe. Download it and place it in your pb folder. Connect to the web and run it in situ, and update pb. 3. Spyware. Run an anti spyware program like adaware or search&destroy. 4. If you have Norton Internet Security, make sure your Firewall isn't playing up. Try turning it off for a test. Connect to a server without it no, and see if it makes a difference. If it does, go to the Symantic support site and read their support articles on gaming lag. There are some documents there on different game problems, including COD. |
Re: Pinging problems well i don't run a router, updated pb don't have spyware as i scan every other day or so turned off my firewall something helped thanks alot |
Re: Pinging problems I suspect pb. Try turning your firewall back on now. I think you will find that it doesn't lag anymore. |
Re: Pinging problems Also, try a fresh install of your game. Check ports for call of duty as well |
Re: Pinging problems well i was just joining a game and some of the servers i use to get 999 ping on i don't anymore but there are some that still do the same thing... |
