well, um , what was happening these console messages appeared. Hitch warning does not look good but i am not for sure. Give us more details and ill try to help you out with whatever problem you have.

BTW, if you have any other CODUO problems you can post them in the COD Forum. There is a specific place for problems like this.

Re: COD:UO MP help

There are 2 files that are causing the problem - language.cfg and autoexec_mp.cfg. These are not loading so the game is shutting down.

Was this an attempt at your own server?

Basically, reinstall UO

Re: COD:UO MP help

Right, I thought so. The server is shutting down because it isn't configure right. You should set 'Dedicated' to 'No'. Here is some info on running a CODUO server:

Ok, so your trying to start your own server. There are basicaly 3 ways to create it:
1. Dedicated from game - this is where the server runs in the background, and you have to join it like anyother external player - you use a server client like All Seeing Eye, XFire, or Gamespy to join it.
2. Dedicated from a Windows Service - Almost the same as #1, but where the server is created via a windows server. More details below
3. Start New Server - this is where you go into the game via the games built-in server feature. Set this to: Dedicated > No. You will be in the server, and anyone will join you when they either know your IP, or they find your server listed in the Master Server List. More details below.

For dedicated servers like #1 and #2, you need to configure your server. Do this either via the games server configure feature, or via a Server Configuration file.

NB IF YOU DO NOT CONFIGURE YOUR DEDICATED SERVER PROPERLY IT WILL SHUT ITSELF DOWN. MOST IMPORTANT IS SETTING THE INFO TO SEND TO THE MASTER SERVER, AND SETTING UP YOUR IP AND PORT NUMBER.

The best way, and more complete way is via a Server Config file. This lets you set the map rotation cycle, the IP and port, messaging broadcasting etc. This type of server runs as a Windows service - a server which is like anyother server where you and everyone else joins it 'externally'. It runs from you pc, but runs as a small quake3 console sitting on your desktop. Join via a server client when you find your servers name in the Master list.

Find a complete guide to running such a server here:

http://www.fkmod.com/freeman/CoD_Install.pdf

This is a PDF file that will tell you everything you need to know, in easy to understand terms.

To have a config file built for you go here:

http://www.fiberfrag.com/projects.php

Just fill in the blanks and it will do the job for you. But there is a complete config file in the PDF file download above.

For server #3, you will either run a single map, or set the map rotation cycle via the correct configuration commands in the file config_mp.cfg. Find this in the CODUO folder 'uo'. Just scroll to the end of the file and enter something like the following:

set sv_maprotation "gametype tdm map mp_carentan gametype sd map mp_dawnville gametype hq map mp_depot gametype tdm map mp_harbor gametype sd map mp_powcamp gametype hq map mp_railyard "

Make sure you enter 'gametype' and the type before each map name.

To rotate to the next map, drop down console and type: /map_rotate This will take you to the next in the cycle. Or, to a specfic map: /map mp_nameofthemap

The most important setting here is that 'Dedicated' is set to 'No'. Set 'Pure' to 'No' only if you are running a mod (like AWE) or custom maps.

As in,i tried creating a COD:UO server without dedicatijng it..pure:yes..Max player:24 Max rate:20 000

Re: COD:UO MP help

A 'listerning' server is one that waits for incoming players only. I.e. it isn't a client as well- with a player on it in order for it to run.

All rented commercial server are 'listerning' server, coz they aren't server/clients.

Can u tell me the best way of creating a Cod:uo server ?some ppl told me not to dedicate it ..and if idoo...hitch warning comes..:( so wat must i do?any settings for this?

Re: COD:UO MP help

Lol, hers is the most simple reason why, You probally have a router. And well, they dont allow you to host games on default setting. I am not a techie. I only know how to make mine work. However you have to allow the particular port through your router.

If you got a router, speak up, tell us the make.

Re: COD:UO MP help

keigan, I suggest you read the post I made about setting up a server. Download the PDF file I posted the link to.

Am I wasting my time here? I make posts with as much info as possible and ppl STILL come back with 'how can i do this?' http://forums.filefront.com/images/s...rcastic%29.gif

Re: COD:UO MP help

ok i got a server.cfg file..i pasted in the folder MAIN...now do i start a dedicated server?

Tally May 6th, 2005 04:46 AM

Re: COD:UO MP help

Yes, if you want to. Or you could just have a non-dedicated server. The difference is really only about whether or not you want to end the server when you finish playing. A dedicated server will be running in the background irrespective of whether you're playing on it or not. And it will be running as long as your pc is switched on, so others can come and go with out you having to be playing on it.

If you decide to run a non-dedicated server, start it up, then when your in a map (just pick any map it doesn't matter), drop down console and type: /exec server.cfg (or whatever you called your cfg file. And its best NOT to call it 'server.cfg'). This will execute the file, and take you to the default map in the rotation cycle. Then away you go. When your ready to quit, the server will stop with you.

If you do start a dedicated server, be sure to create the mp shortcut that is described in the Server Setup PDF file referenced above. This is the easiest way to start your server with the cfg file loaded already.

Also, make sure your pc's details are in the cfg file, i.e. IP, port address etc. And that the Master Server lists are in it, otherwise your server wont be listed, and no one will find you.

Once the dedicated server is running you must join it in one of 2 ways:

1. By opening COD via the regular mp shortcut (the only time COD will allow multiple instances of the game), and either search for your server via the server listings, or drop down console and type: /connect (server IP) <------ this is the server Ip address.

2. Using a server client like All Seeing Eye (free to download. Just google it), XFire (again free to download), or Gamespy (free to download). Then look for your server in the listings, or use the search facility on any of those programs to search for your server by name (i.e. whatever you've called it)

who is 'they'? No one can change it except you. Its not like there are little green men sitting in side your puter changing sh**t

The PDF file explains EVERY THING about what goes into a cfg file. Why don't you read it m8. Damn your pissing me off now.

Re: COD:UO MP help

o k.....now the servers fine ip is inserted....port everything..but no one seems to join

Tally May 6th, 2005 07:16 PM

Re: COD:UO MP help

That's up to them m8. But the question is - is it showing in the master server lists? If it isn't, I suggest you post your server cfg file here and Ill check it for errors.

If it is showing but still nobody joining, well - I run a clan server - getting ppl to join, and worrying about it, is all part and parcel of running a server. Welcome to the party pal (as the man says in Die Hard).

Dont have a clue what your talking about. Never heard of programs running in ACDsee coz I've never heard of it.

Re: COD:UO MP help

well ACDsee is a image launcher and now all my .exe files are running with ACDsee including COD:UO,MSN,Imesh,***** and many more.....i cant even open them..any clue?

Tally May 11th, 2005 05:07 AM

Re: COD:UO MP help

Right click any of your .exe files, and left click properties at the bottom of the menu that pops up. Then left click on the 'change' button near the top. Then assocaite each file with its required program - so for example, if you're trying to change COD.exe, just select COD from the list of programs to assocaite it with it.
