Default noobie server setup !

Hi All
I'm desperatley trying to set up a server on my computer for a few work freinds of mine but I dont seem to be able to get it to work. Heres what I've done.
* Typed in MSCONFIG to get my ip address which is 10.x.x.xx
* I then forwarded the relevant ports to that address.
* Went to whatsmyip.com to get the IP address to give to my mates. got 80.xx.xx.xxx
* Started up COD and selected start server with NO to dedicated.

My mates say that they add me to their favourites but the IP address doesnt appear at all !

Do they enter just 80.xx.xx.xxx or do they need to add :28960 to the end.

Please help as this is starting to stress a few avid gamers !!!

Useually there is no need to enter the port number as well (28960), as it will resolve itself.

Your problem is a common one (my mates have this problem all the time). It sounds like your going through a firewall (prolly XP's one, but might be Norton's or another make)), and the IP is not being broadcast. Disable it. Then when they connect, turn it back on again.

Also, rememnber that your dynamic IP will only last 8 hours. Then it will change.

I've forwarded the ports using the UDP selection. But when I go to shieldsUp.com it tells me that their blocked. If I use TCP then they become stealthed. Is it due to the fact that they are blocked when UDP that no one can contact me in the server list !?

What P2P proggy are you using?

A Server config file is simply a configuration of all the details and settings you want your server to have. It wont be the cause of your basic problem.

You have to use both TCP and UDP. These are the ports:

Call of Duty TCP 28960 UDP 20500,20510,28960
United Offensive TCP 28960 UDP 20500,20510,20600,20610,28960

You have to set the whole range for UDP.

If you want a server.cfg file made for you, go to the site listed below and fill in the template. It will then be placed in your COD folder for you, all ready to go! Find it here:

When setting up a server on CoD and UO you have to give clients the whole address ie:
80.**.**.**:28960 then they'll beable to connect to your server.

But you will have to port forward the ports that Tally has stated otherwise the game wont work.
