C&C Generals LAN problem
 

Hey me and my brother are trying to play against each other through our LAN but we keep having this problem where everything seems to connect okay and then load normally but when we get into the game it a screen comes up to vote for me to be kicked due to lost connection.

No firewalls turned on that I know off, both have ver 1.6, not trying to use the same copy of Generals to load - I have no idea what is wrong. :( Red Alert 2 and Counter Strike seem to work but I can't get Generals working for some reason, just keep getting this error. :(

Anyone know what's wrong and how to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had just the same problem, and I think it had to do with the ip numbers, for some reason. I had an IP that started with 169, and his IP started with 217. As you said, we got disconnected when we had just started (about 5 sec). If you have Windows XP try establishing a home network if you haven't already, or mess up your internet configuration in some way, like unplugging your internet connection and try to refresh your ip, so that you both have bad ip-adresses (169.* ;)) - this worked for me, and later, when you want to use your internet connection just make a new ip. If this won't work, I don't really know anything else...
