Red Alert 2: How to make units follow other units?

Hello

I didn't play RA2 for perhaps one year. Now I don't remember how to make Units follow others. E.g. put an engineer in the America-IFV to make it a Repair-Unit. Let'em follow your tanks and automatically repair them during battle.

Or do I remember wrong and it was never an automatic following?

Select Unit that is to follow -> Ctrl+Alt -> Click unit that is to be followed.
