So i decided to play some RA2 again. So i take out my cds install the game.
All work ok. Patched it to 1.006 and i fire up the game.
BUT
When i go in the game it gives me a big problem. Every time i try to click on a unit/structure icon the game freezes for 2-3 seconds. And then when the announcer starts talking, e.g unit ready or building completed the game freezes again for 2-3 seconds. It doesnt crash or anything but it just freezes for 2-3 seconds when doing some action in the game.
I think it has something to do with the sound since the problem occurs when the announcer speaks but i cant locate the problem.
My system specs are
winxp pro (full updated)
AMD dual core
7900GT
1gb ram
creative audigy
I dont think is a hardware issue, the system is more than able to run this game.
I am not sure if i was clear on the problem, if there is something u didnt understand ask me and i ll try to explain better.
This is my first post on this forums, i searched a bit on the net and this was one of the most active one so i thought i might get some help.
So if someone had the same issue or knows about this problem plz let me know.
hmm.... Try
1) uninstalling then reinstalling, make sure you delete all RA2 files
2) If you have it, install Yuri's Revenge and run RA2
3) All else fails, install a mod and see if that works, My Generals only works with Project Raptor installed!!
Its your sound drivers, I had the same problem. Unless you wanna remove your drivers so RA run smoothly then its gonna be like that forever.
If you know the enemy
and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a
hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy,
for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will
succumb in every battle.
Well you could try buying The First Decade i think the games work fine on that.

I have not had this sort of problem, but I can say that for me, RA2 works just fine on XP with or without TFD.
Mostlikely you dont have the sound drivers that happen to be incompatble with RA2.

I've had it run on my computer prior to this and the one even before it. It runs on my brother's, my Dad's and just about any system configuration that I've seen. If it would be an error with a specific system type, it would be fixed by Westwood before they released the game.
My best guess is that your hard drive has a bad sector on which the game is installed OR your ram has a bad bit on it that creates a memory leak whenever you play it.
