Help needed installing Covert Ops...

Hello there

I am having major difficulty installing the Covert Ops on XP.
I have the old Worldwide Warfare collection and have recently got round to playing through the original C&C (installed fine using the compatibility mode and XP patch) and now I wish to play through the expansion pack for the first time in years.
The problem is that my Covert Ops cd does not Autoplay and when I explore the cd folder and try to open install.exe or setup.exe I just get a black box opening up telling me to open setup.exe from windows.
I have trawled many forums looking for an answer but all I can find is people having problems installing the original C&C.
Has anyone had the same problem as I have? Or better still does someone have a solution so I can once again play this game?

Any help much appreciated

Tim

click the start menu, click run
type the letter of your disk drive (usually D:\), and type setup.exe
D:\Setup.exe

Change the compatibility mode of the CD's setup.exe to Windows95 mode.

Then run it, and it should work. Another problem you will run into is that you have to type in the directory that the game is in. Know what directory it is, and know that you can't type spaces!!!!

So if the location is: C:\Program Files\Westwood\C&C95
What you have to do is: C:\Progra~1\Westwood\C&C95

Basically if you have a directory longer than eight characters, write the first 6 and then do a ~1.

(Or, if you have two directories that are named like Program Directories and Program Files what you have to do is do ~2 instead..)

Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.

In the install program, you must type in your directory structure, and if you have any directories with a space in it, you must used the 6 letters then ~1.
