icon_question Cant install generals!

When I tried to download the patch, for ‘Command And Conquer Generals Zero Hour’ online play, it gave me the message that there was a file which had been changed but still had the old name. I figure that this is because I had been doing some modding with the game. However after deleting all mods from the directory, it still gave me the same message. This message appeared after ‘Command And Conquer Generals Zero Hour’ had closed to apply the patch. After getting to the 6th file (INIZH.big) it gave the message similar to (This is the message I referred to above) : An old file still exists, while it does have the same name it does not have the original content. (I take this to mean: you have messed with a file and now we can’t give you this patch!) After closing this error message I got the suggestion from Command And ‘Conquer Generals Zero Hour’ to “reinstall the game” (so the files would be the same, unmodded, files as normal). I was unable to uninstall the game because of some error similar to the installation error described later. I then manually moved the contents of the ‘Command And Conquer Generals Zero Hour’ directory to my desktop. ‘Command And Conquer Generals Zero Hour’ did not recognize that I had the game installed and let me try to install it. We then manually removed everything from our EA folder (including the folder it self) to my desktop. We then successfully installed ‘Command And Conquer Generals’ (not ZH) And also downloaded the patch for ‘Command And Conquer Generals’ successfully. When I subsequently tried to install ‘Command And Conquer Generals and Zero Hour’ It did not work and gave us the error message: “internal failure” it also said below that: “Error number: 0x80040707” and “description: [intentionally left blank]” (We figure that there was no description for the problem because even our computer was at a loss for words!)
We have run ‘Command And Conquer Generals Zero Hour’ and online play before the patch came out with no problems!

You shouldn't mess with the regestry if you don't know what your doing.

You must have a file wich is edited if the patch won't install. Try looking in your documents folder and then ZH folder. Delete this folder. Reinstall the game and auto update the patch.

Also heard that you should sometimes first install Generals latest patch and THEN install Zero Hour and patch it.

I see you don't have DirectX 9, might be wise to install it from:
www.microsoft.com/directx
or directly from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
(plz do select the right languege)

Also you have a verry old version of the NVidia Driver, the latest version 5.3.0.3 can be downloaded from:
www.nvidia.com

It might also be wise to upgrade your pc with 256 mb RAM, this will speed up windows and Generals dramaticly

Hope it helps.
