Default DirectX 8.1 and video card

When i have installed the game and try to get into it, it loads for a while and then stops and says that i need to make sure that i have Direct X 8.1 or higher and that i need to have the minimum requirements for my video card. I choose yes when it asks to install directx 8.1, but the problem persists. How do i find out if i have the right requirements for directx and my video card?? and if i dont, how do i fix it???

if u are experiensing a problem when u double click the C&C generals icon, nothing happens for a while, and it pops up whith the message that have to check your directX version or your graficcard drivers, although all your other games work perfectly
.......... THERE ARE 1 SOLUTION...........
(1) install directX 9 one more time, even if you did it 20 times to figure out what was wrong with the game
(2) go to my documents
(3) go to the command and conquer generals folder
(4) make sure that your folder settings are set to view hidden files and folders
(5) finde the file named "options.ini" and DELETE IT.....NOW

your welcome.... now you can play the game....

If you copy paste that message anymore, I'm going to hunt you down and kill you.

If you do start->run and enter "dxdiag" (lose the quotes), that should tell you everything about your system (well, most of the important stuff) and what DX version you have.

LOL... the thing is that even when C&C tells you that you have a directX problem... DXdiag will tell you that it is all fine...
