Unhappy skin editing help

I'm new to skinning and I'm trying to skin a model tank I made in gmax. The tutorial I'm using for help says to extract skins from generals using finalBIG...I have no clue how to use finalBIG. It says extract USA crusader tank from textures.big...I've found marauderUV and quadcannonUV and files like that but I cant figure out what to do then. I have not yet even found any tutorials on using finalBIG. can someone help???

after you have opened a big file in FinalBig, you can select a file and click on Edit and then Extract, and a browse window will open for you to choose the location to put the file. You can also got to Edit and have the entire contents extracted to the location of your choice.

For skinning, If you made the model, Unless you made this on your own and did not try to copy the tutorial to make the same exact model used in the tutorial then your best creating your own skin. Only follow the instructions on how to set your model up to receive a skin and then creat your own skin and apply that.

GIMP is alright if you can't fork out the $700 (approx. £3.50) for Photoshop CS.

Fitting link

Windows one too

Thumbs down Re: skin editing help

GTK+2 is a toolset that you need to have in order to be able to use GIMP, I have GIMP but every site I go to is just TALKING about GTK+2 and there are no direct downloads...also I wish I could understand the special language they use on their webpages!
