UO crashes? when i play UO, sometimes i get a windows error reporting thing, and this happens constantly! could it be my drivers? i have a good graphics card (Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro). anyone know what the problem could be? |
Re: UO crashes? YES!!!! IT HAPPENS ALOT!! well UO rocks dont get me wrong..its the BEST! But Ive answered this more times then I can count...and I can count alot trust me :p. SOUND CARD VIA PC CONSOLE VIA sound settings...set to basic or standard!! Read below...LET ME KNOW!! The game crashes back to the main menu when starting a single player game. Answer One of the pak files for the game may be corrupt. Please copy the pak files from the cd and overwrite the ones on your computer. 1) Place the first cd in the drive, exit any windows it opens 2) Open my computer 3) Right click on the call of duty: United Offensive cd and select explore 4) Double click on the setup folder 5) Double click on the data folder 6) Highlight the UO folder 7) Go to the edit menu and select copy 8) Open my computer again 9) Browse to the game directly (default is c:\program files\call of duty) 10) Go to the edit menu and select paste 11) You should get a warning about overwriting files, you want to make sure you allow it to overwrite. 12) Once you have copied all the above files over leave this window open but close the one for the cd drive and remove the cd from the drive 13) Repeat this process for the second cd (the directories and steps are exactly the same just put disc two in and repeat) The game crashes or freezes while I am playing a single player game. Answer Make sure your system meets the minimum system requirements of the game. Make sure you have the latest video and sound card drivers from the manufacturers' websites. Set your desktop to a resolution of 800x600, 32 bit True Color. 1) Right-click on your desktop and select Properties. 2) Click the Settings tab. 3) Set your screen area to 800x600. 4) Set the colors to 32 Bit (True Color). Under Windows NT this will be listed as 65554 colors. 5) Click Apply and OK. THIS IS MORE YOU THGH...THIS PART HELPED ME. :nodding: All background applications must be shutdown prior to running the game. Turn the hardware acceleration for your sound card to Basic. 1) Click the Start button > Settings > Control Panel. 2) Double-click on the Multimedia icon. 3) Select the Audio tab. 4) Click on the Advanced Properties button in the Playback section. 5) Click on the Performance tab. 6) Reduce the Hardware acceleration to Basic, the 2nd notch from the left. 7) Click Apply and then OK 2 times. Run the game now. Don't forget to turn the acceleration back up to restore the high-end features for your sound card when using other applications. NOTE: For Windows XP 1) Click the Start button > Settings > Control Panel. 2) Double-click the Sounds and Audio Devices icon. 3) Click the Volume tab. 4) Under Speaker settings, click the Advanced button. 5) Click the Performance tab. 6) Reduce the Hardware acceleration to Basic, the 2nd notch from the left. 7) Click Apply and then OK 2 times. Run the game now. Don't forget to turn the acceleration back up to restore the high-end features for your sound card when using other applications. OK...COOL |
