I got this for christmas today, i haven't finished single player yet but probably close i have some questions.
A.
Spoiler:
Is Ghost, Gaz from the first? I know its, well impossible but they have exatcly the same voice, did they run out of voice actors? lol
Spoiler:
Is General Shepard that marine that you play for most of the time in the marines in the first game? (If he is i'm not proud, became a dick.)Yeah just realised as i woke up, that it was jackson not shepeard, aha, just mugged myself on the net, must of been thinking of mass effect.
Overall i'm happy with the game, I think the story is good and it almost feels like playing through a movie. I feel like i have a connection with the characters, if you get my drift, similar to the first.
EDIT: Sorry, i dunno why i did this in general gaming, move if you wish lol.

No Gaz died specifically, and yeah probably ran out of voice actors. Maybe they just can't find anymore peopl who can put emotion to their voices.
Spoiler:
I don't think so, if you remember properly, every marine in the first Modern warfare pretty much died. Nuke for the most of them and that machine gun happy guy who was with the SAS, he died on the bridge as well.
However the question I want to ask would be.
Spoiler:
Why did General Shepherd betray TF 141? Was it because Price allowed the EMP to go freely or something else? Because other than that the General seemed to be on US's side anyways.

Intresting
Spoiler:
I know Gaz got a head shot with an Eagle, which isnt pretty, but there are videos on the interwebz that show a close up, and the bullet looked like it sorta skimmed the back of Gaz's head and wasnt a direct shot. Though this could just be and error, and to be fair the only way to see this perspective is to cheat with noclip, but i suppose it doesn't really matter, Ghost dies :/ lol
Yeah i thought about that as well
Spoiler:
I'm not sure why he betrayed, Maybe hes just corrupt, wanted the glory of capturing Makrov to himself, make himself a War Hero, as when captain price calls makarov he said, "shepards a warhero now". I'm not 100% sure.

The thing about Gaz you said, its kinda pretty hardcore. Thats like those kinds of hardcore fan comment on whether or not Gaz has died and a raging debate goes on about it.

I would recommend PC since its so much easier to aim with a mouse and theres just something about being close to the screen compared to console games.
E.g. I played Bioshock on the 360 and on the PC, and the PC actually makes it feel more realistic and the atmosphere actually affects me. On the 360 its just another shooter game.
As far as I can tell on PC, the largest amount of players is 18. Since 'Ground War' mode is the largest game mode and its 18 max.
I'm pretty sure Ghost is different from Gaz. Remember, in the first game they had that some generic SAS members using Gaz's voices as well. IMO Ghost is suppose to be a homage of Gaz, like how Ghost was shot with high calibre handgun in the head just like Gas was in the first game.
As the ultranationalists close in, Imran Zakhaev, escorted by two of his bodyguards, arrives and personally executes Gaz with a Desert Eagle. Gaz is last seen on the ground, lifeless, as Kamarov arrives on the last level, "Game Over", and extracts a wounded Soap by helicopter.
After you shoot Z, they pan to Price having CPR and then he appears to die. Well, with modern medicine and computer anim, anything is possible. Just wish they would have made it so there was no question as to the voices and charactors. although, there has been a Price char in all the series if I remember.
